Terri's Story
Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation ^ | December 3,2006 | Schindler Foundation

Posted on 12/03/2006 3:03:26 AM PST by 8mmMauser

Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.

Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.

Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the family’s dog, Bucky.

Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.

In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.

The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terri’s church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.

In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.

In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy – neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.

On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pasco’s Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

Now I will have to think of him as Frank Lloyd Wrong. As a budding and open minded (open=empty) would-be architect, I heard none of this. I did learn the concept that if one considered function paramount, a viable form would follow. It did not seem to appear in his own works, though. Being also a would-be gadfly I shifted allegiance to Richard Neutra, and went from there to my perfesser, Buckminster Fuller who gave me A's for gluing toothpicks into a bunch of equalateral triangles, and then on to true nothingness. That is how I wound up in Business Admin Personnel Management, all on an avant guard campus. I was really confused as those around me started growing long hair and drinking espresso and saying neat things like Keroac and the beat generation and smoking cigarettes in class.

(Right now, I am drinking espresso, so some stuff wore off.)

Two perspectives...

First from Florida Baptist Witness:

Perhaps like never before since 1973, the abortion political landscape has started to show budding signs of change — both positive and negative, nationally and in Florida. These changes may deeply impact the prospects of the pro-life agenda in 2007 and beyond.

The U.S. Congress is now in the hands of the Democrats — a political party which has long staked its fortunes on the pro-abortion lobby, but in the last election cycle aggressively and successfully pursued pro-life candidates in order to win majorities in the House and Senate. Although the actual number of pro-life Democrats in Congress has not appreciably increased and remains a distinct minority, the success of electing some high-profile, pro-life Democratic candidates last year has begun to chip away at the abortion lobby’s total domination of the party.

Legalized abortion in America at 34

The Second from the Feminist Majority Foundation:

"The relatively low turnout of anti-abortion activists on the 34th anniversary of Roe v. Wade plus the overwhelming wins in the ballot box of pro-choice candidates and the defeat of three initiatives shows that the anti-abortion movement is waning," said Feminist Majority Foundation President Eleanor Smeal of the events yesterday. "The debate over abortion bans, stem cell research, and the decision in the Terri Schiavo case has weakened the political clout of the anti-abortion movement."

And this came all the way from China!!

WASHINGTON – The pro-life movement has a new face and it’s younger and ready to challenge abortion rights activists.

A significantly large number of young adults were among the tens of thousands of pro-lifers who trekked out in the cold and muddy streets towards the U.S. Capitol on Monday to protest against the Supreme Court’s ruling to legalize abortion 34 years ago in the Roe v. Wade case.

Speakers at the annual March for Life rally at the National Mall, one of the nation’s largest pro-life events, repeatedly praised in excitement the large turn out of young adults

Bobby Schindler, the brother of Terry Schindler Schiavo, also spoke at the March for Life event about euthanasia.

I can go along with being called anti-abortion if they would call themselves pro murder. That'll be the day. But still, some decent coverage...

............................

"Bloggers have an audience, bloggers are plugged in," said Peter A. Samuelson, president of the Americans United For Life, before about 40 people at the second annual Blogs4Life conference Monday. "We don't need a Ph.D. to know fetuses and embryos are part of our community."

The conference, hosted by the Family Research Council to coincide with the 34th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe. v. Wade decision legalizing abortion and the March for Life rally, had 80 registered guests and more than 300 watching from a live webcast.

Council President Tony Perkins said, "We're glad to add this to our arsenal of tools."

Guests, including Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., and Terry Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler, talked about their pro-life agenda, which they said includes not only abortion rights but also embryonic stem cells and persons living with disabilities.

Snip...

Blogger Jill Stanek told the crowd they could use the Internet to bypass the mainstream media, which she said didn't give the issue enough coverage. "I'm tired of begging MSM to listen to me, I'm going to blog on this today," she added.

Stanek showed slides and examples from her Web site to the attentive audience, highlighting pictures and sound clips that garnered a lot of attention.

Posting things online also gives viewers a chance to see the "hate of the other side" when they respond to posts, Stanek added.

The Almanac (UPI) says that.

On this day...

n 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected an attempt by Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to prevent the husband of Terri Schiavo from removing her life support system. Lower court rulings said the severely brain-damaged woman was in a "persistent vegetative state."

A thought for the day: "When I tell the truth, it is not for the sake of convincing those who do not know it, but for the sake of defending those that do." William Blake said that.

>> As a ... would-be architect, I heard none of this.

So who does? The liberals glorify their heroes but throw a burlap bag over character issues. They do not want anyone to contemplate that the artistic soul has responsibilities, nor that ugly work betrays an ugly mind.

For my two cents, the liberals can have Frank Lloyd Wright. I don't thrill to any of his work, and certainly don't think it fits into urban neighborhoods. In that sense, it is precisely irresponsible -- the sore thumb on the block. Like all things liberal, it shouts "ME!" at the top of its voice and ignores community, harmony and beauty.

For another two cents, here is the culmination of thinking that "form and function are one" -- Pruitt-Igoe, the high-rise hell of St. Louis, unfit for human habitation.

Thread from wagglebee on MSM bias...

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The national media appears to be providing less and less coverage of the national March for Life even though it continues to attract a couple hundred thousand pro-life advocates from across the country every year. One media watchdog singled out the Washington Post for its biased coverage of the pro-life event.

Tim Graham of the Media Research Center says the Post buried its coverage of the pro-life march on A-10 of the newspaper, putting it in the national section but well after other, lesser important news stories.

Lest I sound like a smart alec protege of the great Buckminster Fuller, I must confess! He gave the grade of A to all who attended without missing a class. He figured we were all deserving so long as we sat there, mouths agape in admiration and supposedly grasping his mathmetical concepts. No tests were given. I did make some nice things out of toothpicks and airplane glue, though.

>> ...the decision in the Terri Schiavo case has weakened the political clout of the anti-abortion movement.

What decision? The one to kill an aware, disabled woman? Trust a feminist leader to kick her helpless sister to death if it serves the "cause" of aborting babies.

Let the whole wide world see what feminism is really about. If they say it's about compassion, or even about women, they are lying. Feminism has no principles or noble ideals. It is about liberalism and naked power. The feminists cheered Terri's murder at the hands of her cheating husband. They jeered at people who had compassion for a helpless woman being tortured to death.

Next semester, we move up to craft sticks, tongue depressors and wood glue.

I just had a malicious thought. What if Bucky Fuller came to town and built something next door to a Frank Lloyd Wright?

I have been hunting for a transcript of Bobby Schindler's speech, but I've been coming up empty. Maybe 8mm could make some calls and see if he can get one.

>> An African American church leader shared how the African community has especially suffered from abortion. Pastor Luke J. Robinson of Quinn Chapel AME Church in Frederick, Md., said that over 500,000 babies were aborted last year in the African community– a number of unborn lives that could have populated the whole city of Frederick, Robinson pointed out.

500,000 babies would fill ten Fredericks. They would populate a city bigger than Atlanta, Cleveland, Kansas City or New Orleans, and almost as big as Boston, Denver, Milwaukee, Seattle or Washington, D.C.

Michael Schiavo seems to have acquired some unexpected allies. PETA has turned into People for the BIOethical Treatment of Animals. They are killing animals the way bioethicists kill humans. PETA activists are on trial for being dog and cat killers and for violating cruelty-to-animal laws.

It's another case of Murderer-Knows-Best leftists. In their arrogance, they decreed that euthanasia is better for a lost pet than life in a dog pound. They went to the animal shelters, pretended to adopt animals, then killed them and got rid of the remains in dumpsters.

PETA foes salivate at cruelty trial Animal-rights group employees charged in dumping of dead dogs, cats

>> A PETA spokeswoman, Kathy Guillermo, said PETA never wanted to get into the business of euthanizing animals. But she said the group couldn't ignore the horrible conditions in animal shelters around Norfolk and in northeastern North Carolina. The group now euthanizes thousands of animals a year.

>> "Euthanasia is a better alternative to sitting in a stinking pound," Guillermo said.

The biggest irony is, Terri Schiavo would still be alive if Judge George Greer had not violated the Pinellas County animal cruelty laws in ordering her death by dehydration / starvation. That's never permitted for a dog or cat or any other animal.
