Theresa Marie Schindler was born to Robert and Mary Schindler on December 3, 1963. She was the first of three children the Schindlers would have.

Terri was a shy, but comical, child who had an affinity for music, animals and the arts. She kept a small circle of friends and was dear to schoolmates, neighboring families and her own extended family.

Following high school, Terri came into her own. She developed a knack for sketching and doodling. She enjoyed outings with her friends. She was an adoptive mother to the family’s dog, Bucky.

Terri attended Catholic School while growing up and remained close to her faith throughout her life.

In 1983, Terri met Michael Schiavo at Bucks County Community College and the two began dating. He was the first romantic interest Terri had.

The couple was engaged within a few months and married a year later at Terri’s church in Southampton, Pa. She was 21.

In 1986, Terri and Michael relocated to Pinellas County, Florida and her parents followed three months later.

In 1990, at the age of 26, Terri suffered a mysterious cardio-respiratory arrest for which no cause has ever been determined. She was diagnosed with hypoxic encephalopathy – neurological injury caused by lack of oxygen to the brain. Terri was placed on a ventilator, but was soon able to breathe on her own and maintain vital function. She remained in a severely compromised neurological state and was provided a PEG tube to ensure the safe delivery of nourishment and hydration.

On March 31, 2005, Terri Schindler Schiavo died of marked dehydration following more than 13 days without nutrition or hydration under the order of Circuit Court Judge, George W. Greer of the Pinellas-Pasco’s Sixth Judicial Court. Terri was 41.

What is the EVIDENCE that Michael did anything to her? I don't want maybes couldbes but actual EVIDENCE. Cardiac arrest does not result from many externally caused things.

Republic, the Schindlers loved Terri as much as is humanly possible. Their mission statement is to help others who find themselves in dire straits. They wish to build safe houses all over the country for people who might be segregated from society and be in line to have their lives taken away. Somehow, the Constitution doesn't work for disabled Americans.

Why? Because euthanasia is here. It is illegal and it is right to be against it. People who insult the Schindlers are pond scum. Critics have no idea of the breadth and depth of their journey or of their many sacrifices.

Critics may need help from Terri's freepers someday. This summer, DUers contacted Free Republic for help regarding a woman. We helped that woman. It's easy to call us names now but we are here if anyone needs us.

How is it that I can discuss Terri with a local policeman and say the judges killed Terri and said officer nods?

Who didn't know it was a fix? It seems the off topickers are the only ones who don't know it was a fix.

A true believer is one who accepts things on faith when there is no evidence confirming it. This has become almost a religious fanaticism.

It is no surprise a tribute to Terri in keeping with sound pro-life conservative principles would be invaded by the same types who howl on behalf of the far left. I wonder if they even realize how un-FreeRepublic they sound with their attacks on decent people. I don't think those types, so wrapped in their emotions even understand the evil in what they spew. No way are they here to engage in true dialog as it all has been hashed to oblivion ages ago, but like the left wing media, they keep it up, to aggravate, to annoy, to bring out unpleasant emotions. It is obvious some of the more aggressive are attempting to hijack the thread. It is a fascinating parallel to what the communists, socialists, far left democrats, and terrorists applied to efforts to hijack national elections. I wonder if these troll types realize that is how they look to decent folks. I wonder also how on earth these types can mask their true core feelings elsewhere on FreeRepublic as they pretend they are really conservative.

Huh? It was the police who didn't take any particular interest.

Use yours. The insurance companies were offered a way to settle for 10 cents on the dollar and they grabbed it. (Apart from the attractive settlement from their view, they would have looked like ogres if they'd stiffed a disabled woman.) The jury was happy because they got to award money for taking care of Terri for life. And the lawyers from both sides were happy because neither side actually did know what caused Terri's injuries. Plus they made buckets of money from the case. Bingo. Settlement.

Michael was especially happy because he won a fraudulent malpractice suit. The doctors were not guilty of any malpractice. Plus, he walked off with a fat "loss of consort" award though he was out getting all the consort he wished.

Btw, if you get around to reading transcripts from that trial, note that Michael's lawyers were NOT calling Terri "PVS." They said she had some capacities, albeit limited (which everybody concedes). They were asking for $20 million (and ended up getting $2 million).

It was AFTER Michael won the award that he decided Terri did not want to live any more. He was, after all, heir to her estate. You have to think like a lawyer to understand these things.

The bulimia theory that Michael used to sue for malpractice was the invention of a consulting trial lawyer named Gary Fox. It was nonsense, but nobody at the time could disprove it. Nobody even wanted to try. Dr. Thogmartin discussed some of this in rejecting bulimia as the cause of a low-potassium blood test Terri had had at the ER. There was no evidence of bulimia, ever, but plenty of other ways to explain the hypokalemia -- including violence. When the bulimia theory was shot down, there went Michael's only alibi.

There are more relevant indications of strangulation which were not there. Smothering also would have physical indications which were not there.

Nor would bloodwork distinguish between the lack of oxygenation resulting from a heart stoppage versa a pillow over the face.

I heard this but cannot give documentation: When Terri was in California getting the electrode implant, she was found behind a curtain at the facility saying "Help me. Help me." (A Californian was trying to locate someone from that clinic a few years ago to get a confirm or a deny). Terri was afraid of Michael. The off topickers are not giving Michael his due for being a large, menacing figure. He never went to Court after awhile - why bother? He knew what the outcome would be!
