Radio Hoax Exposes Anti-Muslim Sentiment in U.S.

WASHINGTON (Dec. 1) -- When radio host Jerry Klein suggested that all Muslims in the United States should be identified with a crescent-shape tattoo or a distinctive arm band, the phone lines jammed instantly.

The first caller to the station in Washington said that Klein must be "off his rocker." The second congratulated him and added: "Not only do you tattoo them in the middle of their forehead but you ship them out of this country ... they are here to kill us."

Another said that tattoos, armbands and other identifying markers such as crescent marks on driver's licenses, passports and birth certificates did not go far enough. "What good is identifying them?" he asked. "You have to set up encampments like during World War Two with the Japanese and Germans."

At the end of the one-hour show, rich with arguments on why visual identification of "the threat in our midst" would alleviate the public's fears, Klein revealed that he had staged a hoax. It drew out reactions that are not uncommon in post-9/11 America.

"I can't believe any of you are sick enough to have agreed for one second with anything I said," he told his audience on the AM station 630 WMAL (http://www.wmal.com/), which covers Washington, Northern Virginia and Maryland

Today, German is supposed to be the largest ethnicity in the United States (though all Americans should be ethnically American).

Which can be easily split between German, Dutch, Austrian, and Swiss. For example, my adopted grandfather used to tell me he was Irish and German. I have the family tree. One set of grandparents came from Austria, not Germany.

I'm an American. My parents were American. My grandparents were American.I am a descendant of an American president

I am a Jedi, like my father before me. LOL!

You are not the only person on FR with similar credentials.

Jimmy Carter's parents and grandparents were Americans and he's was an American himself and we all know what an upstanding patriot he is.

Now you're questioning my patriotism and comparing me to Jimmy Carter? What is up with you people? This thread seems to have drawn out every nasty, hostile loser on this forum

At least, I hope that's all of you there are. I'd hate to think there were even more.

Go do something productive instead of attacking people who have never done anything to you. Be part of the solution.

I'll concede that you didn't explicitly call me a dimwit. I'll assume that your other jibes still stand.

You mean the other things you accused me of calling you like a "no-nothing?" They don't stand, because I never called you any of those things. Please go back and find out where I did.

You responded to a post where I answered someone's question. You responded in a put-down manner as if I don't know anything about what's going on. You appeared not to know the nature of the question that drove my answer.

After being taken out of context, misquoted and addressed in a condescending manner repeatedly on this thread by hostile people, I was up to here with that B.S.

One of the more vile people on this thread even FReepmailed a physical threat to me. (How pathetic is that?)

So perhaps you can try to understand why my patience has run a little thin. I just don't need the unprovoked attacks. I get enough of those of another nature.

This is a "home refuge" for me. I wish the more contentious people on here would find someone else to stir it up with and just leave me alone. They need to find someone else upon whom to vent their insecurities. I'm not here to be a receptacle for their feelings of inadequacy.

So when I stand up for myself, don't be offended. I'm not a doormat, never have been. That's just the way it is.

Somebody threatened you? I hope whoever did it is no more.

I'm not a doormat, never have been.

It's one of your more attractive qualities if you ask me, which you didn't but it needed saying anyway.

Yes, he said if he met me in real life, he would put a boot up my ass. Real tough guy, hiding behind his computer screen threatening a 127-pound woman who's about 7,000 miles away, hmmmm?

I should probably report that, shouldn't I?

Hey, Jerk...(not you, Lurker - he knows who he is)...don't bring a boot to a gunfight. ;-)

Be still my racing heart.

There's nothing like a hot chick with a bad attitude and an automatic weapon!

And yea, I'd report that weirdo if I were you. We can't have that sort of thing around here. After all, one gets what one puts up with.

Stay safe and remember: When in doubt, empty the magazine.

One more small point. 'islamic' isn't a race.

Valid point that cannot be expressed enough.

Questioning your patriotism? No. I just don't appreciate blow hards bragging about their pedigrees, like I'm supposed to bow the knee to you or something because you have an ancestor who was President of the US. My ancestors came here a long time ago to get away from that kind of thing.

And then there is the famous case (at least legend) of the Pennsylvania Dutch being labeled as Dutch because when asked, they apparently responded with Deutsch.

Not all self-identified Muslims are islamofascists, however.

Many freepers kindly helped to get a FRhomepage organized on Internet Explorer. It should look organized, now.

Not all self-identified Germans were Nazis. What's your point?

P.S. Your homepage looks much better now.

If you didn't already get the gist of opinion on American internment camps (for Japanese- and German- (and Italian-) descendants (have been using the non-word descendees for some time)), it is that they were bad.

As for the point, the post was in response to comment 157. While not all Jews were Communists, neither are all self-identified Muslims islamofascists, who are a physical threat to society.

According to who? The internees?

During WWII the government broke up every German American Bund it could find. This was a good thing. We were at war with Germany.

I'm not advocating putting muslims in camps, not yet anyway.

What I'm advocating is deporting every single muslim male who isn't a natural born or naturalized citizen. Just cancel their visas and send them back to where they came from.

We don't need them. They fill no vital national need.

You missed my point. Not all Germans in Germany were Nazis. That didn't stop the US and Britain from killing huge numbers of them in air raids.

Not all Japanese were slavish devotees of the Emperor. That didn't stop the US from killing huge numbers of them in air raids, either.

Not hardly. Your info on their subs is incorrect. The special fleet sub you are talking about could only carry the single engine nakijima float plane and would not have been able to get airborne with the nuc device.Remember the B-29 was required to carry our nuc device we dropped on japan.

This topic seems to be about Muslims in the United States, not in Muslim countries (for the second part of your post). Agree that many German (non-Nazi) and Japanese civilians were killed, and today that is a point of debate, such as whether the bombing of Dresden was necessary. Something to note, however, is that they didn't have precision guided missiles back then, and they did (generally) try to hit either military locations directly, or manufacturing areas (for civilians) which supported the Nazi/Japanese military.

As for the deportation, personally against that, though not completely against restricting or even stopping all Muslim immigration for a while (if they're already here, let them stay, but stop more from coming). Still (again, personal opinion), it does not seem that there has been enough threat shown from Muslim immigrants (not visa-holders, as were the September 11th people) to warrant such a strong action yet.

Many freepers kindly helped to get a FRhomepage organized on Internet Explorer. It should look organized, now.
