Anonymous Pulitzer Photographer Identified After 27 Years (Iranian photo of Kurd executions)
WallSt.Journal ^ | Josh Prager

Posted on 12/03/2006 7:00:25 AM PST by nuconvert

Iranian photographer Jahangir Razmi, took 70 pictures of an execution in Kurdistan on Aug. 27, 1979. One picture (No. 20, below) won the Pulitzer Prize. It was, however, awarded to an unnamed photographer -- the only anonymous recipient in the 90-year history of the award. Mr. Razmi preserved 27 of the photos on a contact sheet and stowed it away in his home. Below are those photos -- made public for the first time.

"the 'religion of peace' referes to extremists 3who have hijacked an entire religion "

I appreciate your making the distinction, but you are using a term -"the religion of peace" - that most people use to describe Islam in general.
If you are specifically referring to Islamists/fanatics/extremists - then it would be better not to use a phrase that is used by most who use it as a description of the entire religion.

If you mean the extremists, then say the extremists.
By saying "the religion of paece" you are describing an entire religion, not the extreme element of that religion.

"not too concerned about it"

You expressed concern that people misunderstand you when you said this....

"wish people would stopp inccorrectly implying that we're lumping all mulsims togehter when we talk abotu the extremists who have hijacked their religion-"

And you replied by trying to set the record straight when you said this...."NOONE is lumping ALL muslims together"

Seemed as though you were trying to sound concerned, but now you're saying that you're not.
I'll take your " not too concerned about it" as your true feelings then.

Have a nice day.

You're so off the mark about what I said in reply to cottshop, how it was said and meant and where I stand, that I'll just suggest you read it all again.

QUESTION: Were the Kurds who were killed Muslims?

ANSWER: Perhaps not. The Kurds may be or Jewish decent.

Though it is probably impossible to prove at this time, there is a real
possibility that the Kurds, who presently are devout Sunnite Moslems,
could be related to the lost tribes of Israel that were taken from the
land at the time of the Assyrian Captivity. Perhaps this could explain
why the Kurds have for centuries been the punching bags of the Moslems in
that part of the world. They are an unusual people and the above sources
show that they accept a certain amount of connection with the Jews.

It's a mistake to lump all muslims under one banner.

If they are successful in their war against other religions, it will be easy to do that.

Photos (#20 is the prize winning photo)

Here is a better rendition of #20:

A government firing squad executes nine Kurdish rebels and two former police officers of the deposed Shah of Iran after summary trials, Aug. 27, 1979. The next day, another 21 Kurdish rebels and military deserters were executed.
