I think he should have appointed Bill Clinton, and at least get him off the streets.

You're delusional. So you're going to trash the President over something that you admit is wild speculation? It's not a headline, it's on Drudge. And it's not even HIS top story.

Being on a short list doesn't mean a g-d thing. THey put names on short lists all the time that no one ever has any intention of choosing.

Hmmm...I actually thought this was a "bash Mitchell" thread, but if you WANT to turn it into a "bash Bush" thread...

Ted Nugent.

Nah, he'd be too serious. I suggest Anna Nicole Smith. Or perhaps Paris Hilton.

LOL.

George Mitchell will never be nominated for U.N. ambassador under this administration.

Mitchell was under serious consideration for commissioner of Major League Baseball back in 1992, and would have been approved by a wide margin in a vote of the team owners at the time if he had been nominated. However, he first had to receive unanimous support from a five-man selection committee among the owners, and he only got four of the five votes he would have needed for his nomination to be passed on to a vote among the entire league.

Mitchell was apparently such a royal pain in the @ss to President George H.W. Bush that the owner of the Texas Rangers back then -- a fella by the name of George W. Bush -- quashed his nomination by casting the lone vote against him.

Is it not a shame that the anti-American left-wing pig faced Democrats would not approve the present ambassador who was doing a GRWAT job. But then Democrats are supporters of the terrorist so they want someone who will help their Islamic fascist brothers.

Democrats are SCUM of the earth.

But, if the libs are smart, a lib UN Ambassador will get Dubya the privilege of nominating a conservative for DC dog catcher.

I hear that Rove has a little time on his hands. And Harriett come highly recommended as well.

So you can't wait long enough for the President to actually nominate someone before you start trashing him?

The purpose of a trial balloon, if that's what this is, is to see how many people will take a shot at it. It's wholly appropriate to let the WH know this is completely beyond the scope of reality.

The George Mitchell that was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Bill Clinton? Bill Clinton ? The most anti-American president in American history?

This had better be a Drudge screw up.

Yes, but I like his diplomatic style. ;-)

Nugent would do a better job than Mitchell, but I think that President Bush should nominate George Allen. He's a member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee. He was a U.S. rep. for a year, governor for four years, and a U.S. senator for six years. Since he lost, last month, he needs a job.

And if memory serves me correctly, Mitchell is currently supposed to be investigating steroids in baseball, or something like that.

Think about it, though. Bill Clinton in the UN, while his wife is trying to run for President.
