Rodney King Arrested In Pasadena, Calif.

(CBS) LOS ANGELES Rodney King, whose videotaped beating by LAPD officers sparked the 1992 Los Angeles riots, was arrested in Pasadena, Calif.

King, 41, was allegedly involved in a disturbance at a Pasadena clothing store on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Police officers were called to the scene and found two outstanding misdemeanor warrants for King. According to the Pasadena Star-News, King was arrested without incident. He was released after appearing in court on Wednesday morning.

King was born in Sacramento and became a symbol of police brutality when amateur photographer George Holliday videotaped four LAPD officers using batons to beat him after a car chase on March 3, 1991.

On April 29, 1992, a Simi Valley jury acquitted the officers of state charges that alleged excessive use of force, which sparked four days of riots in Los Angeles that left 55 dead, 2,383 injured and cost $1 billion in property damage.

Two of the officers were convicted in 1993 on federal charges of violating King's civil rights and served 30 months in prison.

Good morning.
"I remember watching footage from the riots."

My wife and I were flying back from Mexico the first night of the riots and I was trying to point out the bad traffic on 101. The southbound traffic just stopped outside of LA.

We landed in Oakland later and found the city quiet but on the edge of conflagration. I picked up our car and we raced north on empty freeways.

Ray Taliaferra(SP?), a racist liberal nut of a DJ on KGO Talk Radio was screaming into the mike advocating riots and fire. I still don't understand why he wasn't arrested.

This guy has a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE card for the rest of his life. I only hope he doens't kill someone. Can you imagine the lawsuit against the city if King winds up killing someone? He SHOULD be behind bars, no doubt about it and everyone knows it.

Does anyone remember Reginald Denny? He was the guy that was pulled from his truck and da*n near killed by animals taking advantage of the situation. We never hear about him anymore. He'll be a Trivial Pursuit answer someday.

.....became a symbol of police brutality when amateur photographer George Holliday videotaped four LAPD officers using batons.....

To me, always thinking somewhat differently, I find the career of the "upstanding member of the public" etc to be worth checking on. Amongst other sources I accessed a Michael Goldstein of the LA times.

We are informed that the grandfather of Mr Holliday was a "Bobby" in England. (Finest traditions and all that). This inspired Mr Holliday, says he.

It might do Holliday some good to do some reading on the darker side of the Victorian Bobby. The riots caused 54 deaths and 2383 injuries. Mr Holliday is a "rooter". He still works steadily. He took monies on rights to his video. (He does not say how much).

Two wives left him. The stress by the jackals- whoops, sorry, the press, got to the poor lady. I understand he is not an American citizen. Bought up in Argentina. He will take American citizenship.

To be fair, he did try to contact police authorities first (he says). Police officers did 30 months jail time and lost their jobs. Somehow I do not care for either King or Holliday.

Only after Rodney, high on PCP, attacked them. But the MSM conveniently chose not to show that part.
