Any time anyone beats Oklahoma State, it's big news. Big kudos to the Gophers; now let's see them do the same at the nationals.

That's what I always thought until GSP KO'd Matt Huges a few weeks ago.

My former roommate from 25 years ago(RIP) was a horrible drunkard, and one time after drinking all night long he went over to the Navy recruiters office in Hopkins at about 8AM Saturday morning and burst through the front door and drunkenly announced "I WANNA BE A NAVY SEAL!!"

Needless to say they were quite amused and sent him home, but they actively recruited him for years to follow, often coming over to our house to try and talk him into joining up. Only thing was after he sobered up he didn't want to be a SEAL anymore.

"We became good friends, but I soon found out, that with all my skills, this guy could take me down, lock me up, and choke the breath out of me in a heartbeat."

I've known some very good college wrestlers. In the 60's, wrestling was dominated by the Big-8. OU, OSU, and ISU were the dominate teams. One of those teams would win the conference and the national crown. One of my fraternity brothers wrestled for OU at 123. We had another guy in the house that was about 220, solid as a rock. Worked out three times a day, ran 10 miles a day. The 123 wrestler could lock him up in about 10 seconds from a standing start.

Yeah, SO? You wanna make somethin' outta that?
My 5 lb. Blue Tonkinese Male happens to be a deadly shot with most handguns, a 9th degree Black Belt in Akido, writes sonnets in the original Inuit, and rarely has a hairball.
Well sometines.
And when he is celebrating,...well you DONT want to hear about what he made a Rottweiler do. I'll just say dont get a Tonkinese drunk on T'quilla shooters, warm Strawberry Jello and guava juice.

He would be a pretty good Seal except for the "URK-URK" part. It would keep coming out "Meeeow-meeow"

Weight control by far is the toughest. A wrestler has to live with that 24 hours a day for the entire season, and for some wrestlers the entire time they wrestle.

The wrestler will beat the striker in a MMA match.

I challenge you to that.

Strikers are making a comeback in MMA now that more technique has entered the game.

What amazes me is there's still a wrestling progran around that hasn't been closed down due to title IX.

I'm glad the SEALs don't participate in Title 9, nor did this former Gopher wrestler: Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Overall, probably, but did you see striker Chuck "the Iceman" Liddell take out the wrestler Tito Ortiz? Wasn't even close. The wrestler tries to move in to grapple. But Liddell wasn't playing and tagged Ortiz until he crumpled. Also, it helps that Liddell had martial art expertise too. Just goes to show you, just because your girlfriend is a porn queen, doesn't make you tough.
