America's Fatal Weakness
Canadian Press ^ | December 11, 2006 | JB Williams

Posted on 12/11/2006 6:34:25 AM PST by PlainOleAmerican

Terrorists abroad have spent decades preparing for war against the west, studying American culture, identifying all of the cracks in the mortar, all of the weak links in our chain of command and the soft spots in our defenses that make the worlds last remaining super-power a vulnerable target for any terrorists willing to die for the cause.

In retrospect, America's weaknesses were more obvious to others than most Americans thought.

"...and the populations forcibly converted to Christianity..." That was tried already, in Europe. It didn't work. A large portion of the American population exists because of it.

You can't force a religion. Besides..the Pope doesn't have any more armies, so you will have a difficult time implementing your Crusade plans. LOL.

It is very difficult to fight any enemy as long as our government is infiltrated by people who work against the best interests of this country.

It's not only the invasion by illegal aliens that poses a threat, but we also import people from enemy countries.

Furthermore, our institutions, values, and strength of character are under constant attack. This is combined with political correctness, of promoting the mind set of the mentally disturbed, strictly out of "1984" and "Brave New World." All this divides and weakens us.

"The same people who comment on articles before reading them, voted socialists into power thinking they were just Democrats...

WELL DONE!"

Well said. I would add that not only did they vote socialists into power thinking they were just 'Rats, they knowingly voted 'Rats into power thinking they could (somehow) "send a message."

Pure idiocy.

Idiocy that's going to get a lot of us killed.

Well since we are being forced to fight this as a PC War due to the left's whining and complaining

We should "accidentally" drop a 500 pound bomb on top of Al Sadar and then say ... Oops, sorry

Pretty good article .. thanks for the ping

I think the writer makes a good point. After Gulf War I, with a defeated and humbled ragtag army, Saddam was able to almost instantly put down a Shi rebellion. The US, OTOH, after Gulf War II, with a victorious and well equipped army, has been unable to decisively defeat an insurgency after 3 years. The answer has to be that we are not willing to be brutal enough, we don't take the necessary steps because we fear the political consequences.

The "nanny state" socialists want to take everyone's guns where all will be on a "level playing field" and can be given sissy "time outs" if we misbehave. As soon as the terrorists and the socialists insure that no American can be stationed behind any tree to stop the terrorist attacks, then it will be time for the Islamic terrorists to first behead the vegetarian, sissy socialists and then impose dhimmitude and forced conversion on the gullible, fat, lazy masses. Of course, the ostrich socialists and fat and sassy Democrats will be easiest to find; heads stuck in the sand and fat, lard a$$e$ sticking out for the world and all to see.

You do not understand even a little bit the threat that Islam poses to the existence of yourself and to Christianity, and to Buddhism, and to everything else

No more of a threat than a "christianity" people are forced to "convert" to at the point of a sword.

That brand of religion will just have 'em worshiping a different demon ... but a demon never the less.

Thanks for defending me AND the concept I advanced, while I took care of my mother.

I only referred arthurus to the Book of Christianity, the New Testament Bible. While suggesting it is not possible to on the one hand understand the religion of Jesus Christ and on the other to claim that people can be forcibly converted to becoming Christians.

I stand on the Word, and the very Words of Jesus Christ himself, as he explained in His Great Teachings what he had come to this world to die for, rise again, and accomplish. Then he said that "all authority" had been given to HIM in heaven and on earth, and gave the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations. All through his teachings he said his Kingdom is spiritual and is of Heaven and God, not of this world and of man.

He not only said to go and make Christians, he showed how to do it and not how to do it. It is a change of heart and a voluntary submission of one's will to the Will of God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. There is no such thing as a Christian who has been forced to become a Christian. It is an impossibility. You cannot claim authority to force people to convert to Jesus Christ when Jesus Christ himself who has all authority in matters of the Faith he founded says otherwise.

Woe be unto him who contradicts the Lord and places himself above the Lord by saying, oh, never mind, Jesus, I have a better idea than you and I say we force people at the point of a gun to follow you.

What rebellion against the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, to place yourself above him and issue such decrees and edicts as arthurus has.

"the worlds last remaining super-power a vulnerable target for any terrorists willing to die for the cause."

According to Rick Santorum, Glenn Beck, and others, this is the decisive factor!

And the answer is: as soon as an incident occurs we should threaten the responsible terrorism supporting regime, immediately.

We tell them that we'll seek actively "a regime change" with ALL options on the table. One caveat, though: we HAVE TO deliver, no ifs or buts about it!

We have to train and support overtly a "terrorist insurgency" made out of the regime's opponents, whoever they are. And no, democracy isn't a prerequisite or a requirement. Provide the insurgents with cash, weapons, explosives, and if need be; surgical air strikes taking out the regimes government in session.

They already declared, in many quarters, their desire to wipe us out. All what we have to do is to hold them accountable for their words and act in self-defense.

Obviously, this is considered very radical and against what we stand for, however, we'll never beat the terrorists by being nice and reasonable to them. This is taken as weakness and not that we're upholding our values and the rule of law.

No country will ever beat systematic terrorism precipitated by religious fervor without resorting to terrorism of its own (by our standards, that is.) You have to be a more ruthless "terrorist state" than the other terrorist states to beat them. Simply put: it's survival of the fittest.

So, instead of "we can't do this or that..that will cost a lot of bloodshed, etc.", it's our survival, stupid!

Apparently, the word survival is no longer in our lexicon!

I agree with everything you wrote! These people are willing to die; they want to die killing us. Why do the people in our government have to be so blockheaded about what appears to be more and more obvious every single day?

"her [meaning ME] understanding of Christianity is not at issue...Islam is"

I'm sorry, YOUR understanding of Christianity is at issue.

I'm not even talking about Islam at this point. It doesn't matter what the truth is about Islam in terms of your deciding that YOU can determine that a nation should use forced conversion to Christianity as a weapon, a literal impossibility and totally contradictory to the Founder of Christianity and His Words, Jesus Christ himself, the Son of God.

See my previous post.

In my post to you:

it's our survival, stupid!

Literally, that's what it is! Its MY POLITICAL survival, stupid!

Like other "regimes" we're criticizing, they want to keep their "chairs." They’ll blow us all up before they even think about how to really take an uncompromising stand against terrorists!

I, like you, do not believe forced conversion is an answer. However there is an interesting reference in Luke 14:23.."And the Lord said unto the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be full'".

Now, it is true that this is a parable spoken by Jesus regarding a great supper which the master was bidding his friends and family, but they offered excuses not to come. Then he instructed his servant to go to the poor, maimed, lame and blind to come to the great supper. These would have been those who were the unpolished and lower class. I don't believe Jesus meant to compel, at the end of a sword, people to come to Him. Those who come to Him, must come as a little child. We must open the door and ask Him to come in to sup with us. I think I agree, that Jesus never said other than, "Those who take up the sword, will die by the sword". I also don't believe Jesus was saying, there is no just war. Blessed are the peacemakers, He said.

"...They’ll blow us all up before they even think about how to really take an uncompromising stand against terrorists!"

Forgive me, but why is this necessary if they use common sense? Why would standing firm prevent them from keeping their "chairs"? Do they really think that most of the American public even knows enough to be aware of what they're doing? Or, is it just the media messing up the works and stirring up the uneducated that they're afraid of?

Point to note........it was arthurus who first suggested using Christianity as a political weapon against Islam, ergo bringing up the subject of theology, and txrangerette who countered it with solid theological concepts, stating accurately that what was suggested by arthurus was the antithesis of Biblical Christianity, and therefore unacceptable as a means of dealing with Islam.

Perhaps the best thing would be for arthurus to back off his suggestion of using Christianity inappropriately, and try to come up with another theory as to how to deal with militant Islamists.

It might prevent any future need to correct his errant theology.....
