He's dumb, but he's not the only one. The whole damn Congress is filled with people who's only qualification for the job is that they look good on camera.

The Democrats can just be critical, they have no idea what to do they can just criticise those that are doing.

No, the only "terrorists" in the eyes of the Reyes and the DNC have (R)'s next to their name. Its going to be the 90's all over again.
To: woofie
We're in trouble. The only reason Chairman Reyes was appointed by Speaker Pelosi was to throw a bone to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. This is yet another bomb that will explode in the speaker's lap.

Who is on first.
How isn't on the roster, but Rep. Reyes probably doesn't know that either.

Democrats New Intelligence Chairman Needs a Crash Course on al QaedaSilvestre, as I'm sure most readers know, is the candidate chosen by Nancy Pelosi to bypass Jane Harmon. Ive interviewed a number of his colleagues and top counterterrorism officials over the past several months. Silvestre cant answer some fundamental questions about the powerful forces arrayed against us in the Middle East. It begs the question, of course: How can the Intelligence Committee do effective oversight of U.S. spy agencies when its leaders dont know basics about the battlefield? http://public.cq.com/public/20061211_homeland.html

The whole system of basing power positions within committees on seniority, who you know, the capability to raise big bucks, looking good on camera and having the ability to spout carefully coached and rehearsed 5-10 second sound bites that seem halfway intelligent obviously sucks.
This leads to a bunch of empty suits having enormous power.
IMHO, having to pass a test to prove you know at least something about the job makes sense to me.
Never happen though. All the arrogance and narcissism will get in the way. It's also gonna get a bunch of us killed.

I don't think it matters to the Dems if he knows anything about intelligence matters. They don't intend to do much about National Security anyway. At least he can wear a nice, tasteful suit.
