WASHINGTON When the State Department recently asked the CIA for names of Iranians who could be sanctioned for their role in a clandestine nuclear-weapons program, the agency refused, citing a large workload and a desire to protect its sources and tradecraft.
Frustrated, the State Department assigned a junior foreign-service officer to find the names another way by using Google.
Those with the most hits under search terms such as "Iran and nuclear," three officials said, became targets for international rebuke Friday when a sanctions resolution circulated at the United Nations.

The CIA is completely useless. Of course, so is the State Department.

Even if the CIA had done it, they probably would have used Google, as well.

It'sprobably the only way the CIA can make sure the State Department doesn't leak classified documents to the New York Times.

IMHO, it's time to downsize the entire Federal Government by about 25%. The bloat costs billions of dollars per year, wastes enormous amounts of time and is probably dangerous to our country.
On second thought, let's make it 50%!

Why didn't the CIA just put Joe Wilson on the case?

I have no doubt that whatever the CIA said, officially, the State Department would have demanded proof, including the sourcing.
And, in spite of the need to connect the dots, it is not unreasonable, given how many treasonous State and CIA employees we have, that the CIA Director did not feel he could protect the sources once the lists and the data were compiled and transmitted to State.
Why didn't Condi (1)intervene, (2)demand that her people ask only for a list from the CIA, without sourcing and (3)ask the President to press the CIA for that request - if everybody really thought the accuracy of the list was important? Did anyone ask Condi to intervene, and if not why not? Or did Condi chose to not intervene and allowed her Department to commit the institutional humliation of using Google? Someone is not minding the store at State.

And how do I do that? At 700 feet in a Black-Hawk you cannot see it until you are directly overhead.
