DeLay: 'Hillary Will Be the Next President'
Human Events Online ^ | December 12, 2006 | Robert Bluey

Posted on 12/12/2006 1:03:56 PM PST by Quilla

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said today that Sen. Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.) would be elected president in 2008 and would probably tap Senate colleague Barack Obama (D.-Ill.) as her running mate.

DeLay met with conservative bloggers at a weekly lunch meeting hosted by HUMAN EVENTS and the Heritage Foundation. He is making the rounds in Washington to promote his new blog and activism website, TomDeLay.com.

DeLay said he was motivated to start the blog and create the Grassroots Action and Information Network after observing the success of liberal organizations such as MoveOn.org, the Media Fund and Americans Coming Together. He said he hopes to utilize some of the same tools to help Republicans win elections.

It’s this liberal coalition, working in concert with the news media, that will propel Clinton to the White House in 2008, DeLay said. “Hillary will be the next president of the United States because they have built a coalition,” he said.

DeLay also implored conservatives to start digging into Obama’s past. He said Obama’s record in the Illinois Senate was on par with a “Marxist leftist.” Citing defeated U.S. Senate candidate Harold Ford of Tennessee, DeLay said Obama was attempting to disguise his liberal views. (Read Amanda Carpenter’s report on Obama and his conflicting rhetoric.)

DeLay named Clinton loyalists Harold Ickes, Sidney Blumenthal, James Carville, Paul Begala and Joe Lockhart as the masterminds behind the left-wing coalition. He said that these groups, more than anything else, contributed to the GOP’s fall this November. “I have never seen a more powerful coalition,” he said.

One such example of the coalition’s power played out precisely as planned in California’s 11th District. Republican Rep. Richard Pombo was toppled after facing an onslaught of attacks from the left.

DeLay said his goal in creating the new organization is to turn ideas into action. He said he will reach out to the diverse coalition of conservative groups and bring them together to rival the coalition built by liberals. Prior to the 1994 Republican takeover of Congress, DeLay said he employed a similar strategy that the GOP has gradually abandoned.

One day after launching the new website, DeLay said he’s had 100 people pay the $52 per year to join the Grassroots Action and Information Network.

DeLay has no business trying to get people interested in his organization -- which may well be a good idea -- if he's predicting defeat in '08 at the same time. He also has no business talking defeat no matter what. This isn't leadership.

I'm afraid that DeLay speaks truth. When you consider how many people here on FR won't vote for someone who isn't a "perfect" conservative (in their opinion), then we are at risk of having Hillary win the election. As you know from other threads there are people who could care less if Hillary wins if they don't get their ideal conservative. Yeah, I think DeLay could be right. You can call that being negative, but to me it is simply being a realist.

DeLay isn't a dummy but rather is laying the base work for bring many contributors into his org to defeat the Clinton ticket. By making these predictions and hyping her election then on down the road as he gets his fundraising mechanisms in place he'll be out front pleading for cash and help to stop the Clinton onslaught.

Follow the money........ DeLay has had that ability over the years. jmo

I think Delay is sounding a warning here: Unless we get our acts together now, Hillary! may win. She's organized, we're not.

Delay may have a point.

I think you are correct, short of a miracle. We hear the derision from many about the 'dinosaur media'. I bought it hook, line, and sinker. But the last year I have seen the old media (MSM) rise from the ashes, define completely the debate, and take out the Senate, House, and are in the process of taking out the Administration. I, along with many here, derided Matthews as he tried to put friend of the President, Rove, and Libby behind bars. He did not get Rove, but he and his cohorts in the MSM kept repeating the lies on all of the news stations, and they simply overwhelmed the Republican. Lies, euphemeism, deceit,...all tools of the left and the lawyer, but when it came down to it, they won employing those tools.

The dinosaur media still has a bite and it has found new resolve in defining the issues we are allowed to hear. Delay is analyzing these matters in the cauldron of reality, not fanatasy. Unfortunantly for the United States of America, Hillary and Obama will inhabit the White House for 8 years. Take a look around you and tell me who will defeat a billion dollars worth of free campaign advertisement. THe campaign has already begun.

Imagine how refreshing it would be to actually have a CONSERVATIVE with a set.

Chances? Anyone?

I don't view what he said as defeatist. He is trying to throw cold water in the face of conservatives to wake them up. He's right, we were outflanked with the help of the MSM and the first step is in facing why you were beaten and they try to fix it.

Hillary may decide to run, and if so she has a realistic chance of winning. But she won't have Osama Obama as a running mate. Miz Hillary will already own the plantation, and Illinois, so he brings nothing to the ticket. If nominated, she will pick a white southerner as a running mate.
