DeLay: 'Hillary Will Be the Next President'
Human Events Online ^ | December 12, 2006 | Robert Bluey

Posted on 12/12/2006 1:03:56 PM PST by Quilla

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said today that Sen. Hillary Clinton (D.-N.Y.) would be elected president in 2008 and would probably tap Senate colleague Barack Obama (D.-Ill.) as her running mate.

DeLay met with conservative bloggers at a weekly lunch meeting hosted by HUMAN EVENTS and the Heritage Foundation. He is making the rounds in Washington to promote his new blog and activism website, TomDeLay.com.

DeLay said he was motivated to start the blog and create the Grassroots Action and Information Network after observing the success of liberal organizations such as MoveOn.org, the Media Fund and Americans Coming Together. He said he hopes to utilize some of the same tools to help Republicans win elections.

It’s this liberal coalition, working in concert with the news media, that will propel Clinton to the White House in 2008, DeLay said. “Hillary will be the next president of the United States because they have built a coalition,” he said.

DeLay also implored conservatives to start digging into Obama’s past. He said Obama’s record in the Illinois Senate was on par with a “Marxist leftist.” Citing defeated U.S. Senate candidate Harold Ford of Tennessee, DeLay said Obama was attempting to disguise his liberal views. (Read Amanda Carpenter’s report on Obama and his conflicting rhetoric.)

DeLay named Clinton loyalists Harold Ickes, Sidney Blumenthal, James Carville, Paul Begala and Joe Lockhart as the masterminds behind the left-wing coalition. He said that these groups, more than anything else, contributed to the GOP’s fall this November. “I have never seen a more powerful coalition,” he said.

One such example of the coalition’s power played out precisely as planned in California’s 11th District. Republican Rep. Richard Pombo was toppled after facing an onslaught of attacks from the left.

DeLay said his goal in creating the new organization is to turn ideas into action. He said he will reach out to the diverse coalition of conservative groups and bring them together to rival the coalition built by liberals. Prior to the 1994 Republican takeover of Congress, DeLay said he employed a similar strategy that the GOP has gradually abandoned.

One day after launching the new website, DeLay said he’s had 100 people pay the $52 per year to join the Grassroots Action and Information Network.

at some point, a decision will be made - send up an unknown, "litmus test pure" candidate who is unelectable and lose to Hillary, or take your chances with a moderate, get whatever percentage of the base that is willing to come along, and get some independent votes.

All you guys have is the false dichotomy and the straw man. Rudy McRomney are all SERIOUSLY flawed candidates. The polls showing them beating Hillary now are total frauds. The media has not yet begun to pound on these losers yet. They won't start until after one of them (God forbid!) is nominated. Then, it's hammer time. And these guys ALL have feet, legs, torsos and necks of clay.

I'll say it again. A liberal Republican as the nominee = President Hillary. Fair warning. I pray that the GOP and the various pundits out there will be smart enough to realize that.

And I'll also say it again--it's a bad thing when a woman wilfully conceives a child with the express intent of excluding that child's father from his/her life. I don't give a rats @ss if that's a popular opinion with the seminar posters or not.

Good post. That's a pair of losers. Try swapping their clothes as Obana is the skinny one who could give Nicole Richie a run for anorexia. He is also the one doing the magic tricks now. Hillary is the one tapping her feet now just waiting for a mistake from Obana. She also has the big belly.

The idea that Hillary could be elected is not unrealistic.

All that she has to do is to repeat Kerrys performance in 04 + win ohio, which is not very tough considering the recent Dem senate and Governor wins in Ohio.

Along with Obama, who is energising dems across the country.

Republicans on the other hand are demoralised, divided and deflated. The front runners of Mccain, Giuliani are despised by the base and there is real divisionn in the party, so Dems would have to be the favourite for the 08 presidential rae.

so the media isn't going to hammer someone like Brownback? they are going to praise him, is that it?

these Mary Cheney threads - to a typical american, they have the odor of some tele-vangelist deciding which women are "allowed" to have a baby. Only those with "acceptable" lifestyles can get pregnant - no lesbians, all women who perhaps just weren't "lucky" enough to find a husband should remain childless for life, etc. you think that is going to sell? not a chance. trot that plank out there in 2008, and you'll see staggering numbers of women (especially single women) voting Dem.

The polls are total frauds? Tell that to FORMER senators Allen, Santorum, Talent, and Burns.

Unbelievable, even if you think it don't say it.

They must have some compromising pictures of him with a little boy and a llama, or he's one of the biggest idiots to walk the face of the earth, which is it Tom?

Perhaps you would deign to enlighten us with one or two that you do buy.

I've heard some theories that it goes back to his days before becoming Governor of Texas - his business partners and the like who might stand to benefit from this. This is very plausible - he has friends, including friends of his father, that were in many different industries, that would benefit from some kind of amnesty program. As well, he was very pro-active when it came to being friends with Mexico, during his days as Governor.

There's another theory, and we are discussing this in the Texas room - that it ties into NASCO, which is basically a super transportation corridor from Mexico City up through Canada. Texas, under Rick Perry, is off to a fairly fast start on our leg of it (without much public input, and the input that has been given, has been ignored - Perry's folks ramrodded this thing through). Very secure borders with no tolerance for illegals would slow up NASCO big-time (especially with the inland ports in North Texas and Kansas).

Exactly...but don't waste your time trying to explain it to Bushbots with heads in the sand...and if the Chilldabeaste becomes president we can all thank one person for the credit of electing her and the dismantling of what Reagan meant to our nation plus a half-century took to build: GEORGE "DUH-Pee-YEW" BUSH!

I like Newt, but I'm afraid he's got too many skeletons in his closet, even if unimportant ones.

Well, atleast you post a healthy debate and not attack a republican simply because you didn't like what he wrote. Personally I think Delay was trying to scare the republicans to engage in such a debate. And not for the purpose of attacking him. It's true. We need to start looking around on our side and not just seek anybody that can beat Hillary but if we dont start working on it now we may be forced to do just that by electing a RINO like Mcain.
