Rudy's positions on abortion, gays and RKBA fully contradict what praise you say that he heaped.

I watch a politician's actions, and if they contradict his words then he's not trustworthy.

That is the fact of the matter.

Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan were certainly not "pretty" nor really "central casting types" for POTUS.

Could be true, but that was different times. We lost to Clinton because Dole and Bush 1 were boring compared to Clinton and we won with George W. because Gore and Kerry were boring. Sorry that it is that way, but with 24 hour news you need someone with a pretty good personality. I am not saying that Duncan Hunter doesn't have a good personality. I am just speaking generally.

Do you plan on holding his hand indefinitely?

What would truly be the best ways for Hunter to get as many votes as he could get from both the present "blue states" and from more of the non-conservative voters? Hunter will need to successfully get much more than just the majority of conservative voters to truly have a chance.

He sounds like somebody who could keep this party together. Who knows, if he put a dress on he could even sway a few of the Rudy backers to get behind him.

Even if Hunter doesn't win the nomination, he sways the debate to the right.

This is a good thing.

So far he is (by far) my favorite.

Think back.
G.H.W.Bush. "Read my lips". Broken Pledge on taxes.
Repeated looking at watch during a THREE WAY debate.
ROSS PEROT.

An attentive and faithful to his pledges POTUS and a mini Billionaire one issue candidate less, not siphoning off between 13 and 19% of the vote and you STILL would not have had to suffer the Clintons.

Perot made a gift of the Presidency to the Clinton's at the expense of an elitist and bored President Bush.
Perot had ZERO chance. Clinton was a Governor with A chance.

I know you are supportive of Duncan Hunter. And with reason. He is a good legislator and fine person, with an excellent reputation (as far as I have read)
but cool your engines. I am NOT your enemy, and I am not impeding Hunter's chances by presentation of MY opinion.
I am still entitled to it, I think, even if if may not exactly mesh with yours.

I personally would like a Haley Barbour/Tom Coburn ticket.
But I do not think that will happen either.
A Gingrich/Watts ticket would not upset me either,
nor would a Gingrich/Steele or Barbour/Diaz-Balart combination.
It is not the credentials of a job performed by a Governor, but the fact that that person now matter how reprehensible he/she may be PREFORMED that function and it is a microcosm of the USA at large. Executive experience, trumps no executive experience almost every time. (unless your Dad buys the election with organized crime's assistance.:~))
Congressmen jumping to President are a rarus avis indeed, as are Generals. It happens but not often, and not when they are not a household word without a national organization, and the time being short as the list of Hillary Clinton's good points.
Relax. It is a long political season. There will be things we agree on and things we do not agree on during this time. Enjoy what you may today.

So there are two problems, (1) Hunters' bio has a discrepancy and (2) his law school is an inconsistent choice for someone with ambition and intelligence sufficient to eventually become President.

Thanks for this. Better this information comes out now. That said, I think this criticism is weak and those who attempt to tar Hunter with it will appear to be elitist snobs by the general public.

I know a woman who has a nursing degree and is considering the Air Force. She told me she will either enlist on the Wednesday after the 2008 election or forget about it completely, depending on who is elected.

That's exactly how I felt as a senior in college in 1992. I was getting set to join the navy. However, after November 1992, the idea of serving under Clinton drained any enthusiasm out of it for me.

However, if the posts on this thread made almost 10 hours ago is an indication of Hunter's ability to unite conservatives (in a primarily conservative forum,) just imagine how he will be viewed by the general voting public.

Are you kidding? Criticisms of Hunter on this thread have been few and far between--just a couple of the usual suspects trashing him for not having the proper pedigree. If you want discord, check out any of the Rudy McRomney threads...

Appeal to authority is a fallacy. Use of potty-language is so DU. Unless that's what you call a "serious place."

Oooh. Thanks for the heads up.

So far, I see nothing but upside with this guy, but I'd like to see how he presents himself...

I think you're mistaking me for some other posters who were mocking you. I see your point and have no derision to offer, I just think we're going to lose our collective ass if we run Rudy McRomney.
