It was this sort of amateur oversight that killed the Humint programs under Clinton that might have helped in Iraq. It would be nice if the people making such decisions knew the difference between Sunni and Shi'ite at least, knowledge which seems sort of scarce in the Democratic House at the moment. I won't be holding my breath.

Creating the panel, Pelosi said at a news conference, "makes oversight stronger and makes the American people safer." I do not think the word "safer" means what she thinks it means.

She wants to cut off funding or threaten to cut off funding for the Bush intelligence programs unless the president agrees to the democrat's demands. They are going to use the threat of cutting off funding for the war in Iraq to try to force the president in the war as well. This is just the same method for the NSA program.
