Iran warns of painful revenge if sanctions imposed

  • The Washington Post reported that Iran will exact painful revenge on countries opposed to its nuclear program if the U.N. Security Council imposes sanctions on Tehran, the country's chief nuclear negotiator said.
  • Reuters reported that Iran is not a threat to Middle East stability but it is a threat to the United States and its European ally Britain, a hardline cleric said on Friday.

 

"Deal emerging" on Iran sanctions

  • Reuters reported that Britain's U.N. ambassador said agreement was emerging on a U.N. resolution imposing sanctions on Iran for its nuclear program but Russia is still opposed to a travel ban on Iranian officials.

 

Iran destabilizes Mideast - EU

  • Reuters reported that the European Union accused Iran on Friday of destabilizing the Middle East with its nuclear program and threats towards Israel.

 

Two bomb blasts in Iran

  • IranMania.com reported that two bombs exploded simultaneously in Zahedan, Iran.

  • Kenneth R. Timmerman, FrontPageMagazine.com published a list of stunning misconceptions underlying the recommendation for direct talks with the governments of Syria and Iran.

 

Panned in Baghdad - the Iraq Study Group

  • The Wall Street Journal reported that the more revealing reaction to the Iraq Study Group report has been from Iraq itself: "Unrealistic," "inappropriate" and "very dangerous" are among the kinder words used by Iraq's leaders to describe the ISG's work.

 

Rice Rejects Overture to Iran, Syria

  • MSNBC reported that Condoleezza Rice yesterday rejected a bipartisan panel's recommendation that the United States seek the help of Syria and Iran in Iraq, saying the "compensation" required by any deal might be too high. She argued that neither country should need incentives to foster stability in Iraq.

 

Iran's Obscenity, Holocaust Denial's Just a First Step

  • New York Post argued that the Holocaust conference that Iran's government convened, a conference dedicated to "questioning" (in fact, to denying) the truth of the Holocaust, is nothing less than an incitement to anti-Semitism.
  • The Jerusalem Post reported on the only known Iranian Jewish Holocaust survivor living in L.A, Menashe Ezrapour.
  • Bret Stephens, The Wall Street Journal argued that the World's polite society helped pave the way for Iran's Holocaust conference.

 

From Khomeini to Ahmadinejad

  • Matthias Küntzel, Real Clear Politics reminded us that in 1979, Khomeini followers, armed with sticks and chains, broke down the door of the American embassy in Tehran, stormed the compound, and took US Hostages and Khomeini would repeat the slogan "America cannot do a damn thing." Ahmadinejad reminds us of Khomeini's statement when he says that the US cannot stop Iran's nuclear quest.
