The portion of national income earned by the top 20 percent of households grew to 50.4 percent last year, up from 45.6 percent 20 years ago; the bottom 60 percent of U.S. households received 26.6 percent, down from 29.9 percent in 1985, according to the Census Bureau.

Meanwhile, average pay for corporate chief executive officers rose to 369 times that of the average worker last year, according to finance professor Kevin Murphy of the University of Southern California; that compares with 131 times in 1993 and 36 times in 1976.

What are the statistics for Poland?

In Poland stratification is a little more moderate but because Poland is much poorer, it hurts more.

Higher stratification than in USA is in Brazil, Colombia and Russia (the last thanks to Yeltsin reforms). Examples of countries with little stratification are Norway, Denmark, Germany and Finland.

Would you buy from Joseph Stalin? Adolf Hitler? Pol Pot? Bin Ladin?

Yes, you are consistent, consistently wrong and not Conservative at all!

The ONLY time that America had a major trade surplus, worth talking about, was right after WW II and for a couple of decades after. The reason for that is because we weren't devastated by WW II was, as Europe was. We even sent spaghetti to Italy, right after WW II. I bet you didn't know that. :-)

OTOH, prior to our entry into WW II, we were still trading with those with whom we would soon be fighting.

Making the dollar worth more, hampers our exports! It leads to American products costing too much for people in other countries to buy.

But I'm not going to play trivia pursuit games just to satisfy your curiosity.

Or you don't know what they are. Why would we doubt you? LOL!

I have posted numerous articles on OTCs, some by the professor you so disparage.

Yeah, like that helps your credibility.

So I think I am sufficiently knowledgeable about the OTC market to comment on the same.

Yeah, just as long as you don't actually have to give any examples of derivatives.

PS Fekete also points out where Milton Friedman went wrong.

In the link up thread? Considering Fekete knows less about bonds and the money supply than I do, his criticism of Friedman has got to be f-ing hilarious!

I tend to agree with Fekete on that front as well.

Yeah, the blind leading the blind.

You never answered my question. You said that the article let it slip that it is weighted in favor of Dems and Independents. Will you please show me SPECIFICALLY where it said that???

So you would have bought from Hitler while he was fire-bombing England, Partitioning Poland, invading Czechoslovakia, occupying France, and conducting his genocide on the Jews...just so long as we were not actually at war with him?

GiGi, do you know that the OTC market was the ONLY way people were once able to buy options? The PINK SHEET was its "bible".

In April of 1973, the CHICAGO BOARD of OPTIONS EXCHANGE , or the CBOE, opened and changed history. The CBOE is about to change history, yet again, in two different ways. I can't wait to hear you expound on that! ROTFLOL

BTW, Buffet has made some really AWFUL mistakes, he is neither infallible, nor is he someone who you can or even should use as a totally reliable source. He was a gigantic Clintonista and doesn't want "the little guy" to be able to make it. As all Limousine Liberals, he wants everyone else to be taxed to death.

I think there is a gap in the work ethic.
I know people that sit and do NOTHING all day. They get their check from the govt. for 600-1000 per month, food stamps, discounted rent, rent rebates, free dental care, prescriptions, heating assistance, free food baskets, free eye glasses and free or greatly reduced transportation, free clothes as well as other freebies like furniture. They don't even have to pay their own bills. Someone else will do that for them for free. All for doing nothing at all. Life is good in America!
