Swift Raids Unacceptable [Iowa upset that illegal aliens were arrested]
Immigration Daily ^ | 12/20/2006 | JENNIFER JACOBS

Posted on 12/21/2006 6:30:27 AM PST by doc30

According to a Des Moines Register news story, "In a blunt and stinging letter, the governor and the top officer of the Iowa National Guard on Tuesday called federal immigration officials' actions in the Swift raids "completely unacceptable," saying agents undermined the public's trust in government, potentially jeopardized the safety of law enforcement personnel in Iowa and could have compromised undercover operations." agents undermined the public's trust in government

More like "agents undermined the illegal aliens trust in the government doing nothing about their presence in the US".

saying agents undermined the public's trust in government

When the government ignores laws and law breakers (criminals) - just how does that build the public's trust in government...?

Yes, the business/money lobby is calling in it's markers with the politicians. What does the National Guard have to do with a Federal Immigration investigation?

Both the Governor and the National Guard Clown should not call themselves Americans.

It makes my Day when these raids and more of them arrest thousands of Illegal Aliens.

Read "America Alone", By Mark Steyn and read what Unchecked immigration can do to a country !!!!

Cut out all Federal Funds to this State and any other that supports Illegal Aliens.

Let's see now.

If they detained 1300 and 5% were being held on felony charges, that would be 65.

Since those 65 felonies included illegal re-entry, we don't know how many are being held for id theft.

Lots of smoke, but not much fire.

I think it's time to get a new Top Officer of the Iowa National Guard.

I bet the legal Iowans lining up to get those jobs don't find the raids unacceptable.

Governor Ballsack's position on these raids is completely understandable since he is running for President and will have to whore out for every possible vote he can (including illegals.)

After the Primary's over with, he'll be lucky if even his Wife and kids remembered that he ran. I guess that's the price you pay when you have the personality of a fence post and the charisma of a corpse.

Yep, me too. I read an article linked off of Boortz's page this morning that said new applicants, legal, American applicants, lined up out the door of the Swift plant in hopes of being hired into the newly vacated positions. Doing jobs Americans won't do and all that hooey.....

What does the National Guard have to do with a Federal Immigration investigation?

The detainees were transported to Camp Dodge (IA Nat'l Guard Headquarters) for holding until they were processed.

The latest this morning is state law enforcement is whining that their own undercover investigation was impaired by the Feds. I strongly suspect this is more of Viltax's efforts to focus the attention to something other than his own miserable governoring.

This is validation for my comments that the rich and powerful want illegal aliens here to make millions off of them via cheap labor and sales of housing/goods to them. They simply do not care about those of us who were born here and have been living here for years paying taxes.

I think this presidential run is about him making some money in his last few years on speaking engagements, book deals, and campaign money. He has no chance and everyone knows it.

More like smoke and mirrors. Until this happens 24/7 (which it could) I'm not buying it.

The latest this morning is state law enforcement is whining that their own undercover investigation was impaired by the Feds.

So the state "investigation" was plodding along, getting milked for years worth of taxpayer funded paychecks when ICE showed up and did their job. Just what was a State agency going to do? (or has ever done?). Sound like whining over the gravy train getting defunded cause the feds beat them to it.

Can't arrest the executives. Under the current law, they used the Basic Pilot program and found that the applicant's name and SSN numbers matched. That is sufficeint to prove the company did not knowingly hire illegals. IMHO, the law needs to be changed.

This Iowan isn't upset by the arrests, but I've heard that they had a 'heads-up' that this was coming and hundreds avoided getting caught and that's upsetting!
I also recall something about Vilsak making Iowa more easily accessable to what amounts to illegals a few years back too...any other Iowans remember any of the details??
