This is all great to hear, but come on be honest. If this was a law to "protect 14 year old boys", your attitude would change. Just admit it, don't be ashamed, just be honest.

Boys and girls are treated different, 14 is ok for one, but not the other. Even though a 14 year old girl is considered more mature than a 14 year old male in almost every aspect of studied sociology? The girls are the ones needing protection for consent.

The Gay Lobby won't dissociate itself from pedophiles...more evidence that their opposition to raising Canada's age of consent has nothing whatsoever to do with protecting children. A child, as opposed to an adult, has no business having sex, period. And there is no reason for an adult to want to have sex with a child. If we believe in moral absolute as a principle, the least we can do is set the age of consent at 16. 18 would be more logical.

I'm going to give the Canadians the benefit of the doubt here and suggest that maybe the age got lowered in the first place to prevent this scenario:

Two 15-year-olds have sex and the boy is labeled a sex criminal for the rest of his life.

If that was their intent, to stop that from happening, I can understand it.

But if that's the case, they could have fine-tuned the law and talked about age DIFFERENCE when one partner is below a certain age... anything to prevent "sixty year olds having sex with fourteen year olds". That IS disgusting.
