Your child (thank him/her for his/her service) is a target anyway, by virtue of wearing the colors of the USA. He/she already has the Right Stuff and recognizes that.

Prince Harry is not likely to see, and even less likely to wear colors in a theatre, battle. If he does, he'll go into a fight as a British officer, who are our Allies and are made of stern stuff.

My prayers are with all of our good kids over there, and their families.

Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars. And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.' Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember with advantages What feats he did that day: then shall our names. Familiar in his mouth as household words Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester, Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd. This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember'd; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; Henry V, Wm Shakespear

Times have changed. A modern American Harry does not have a Kennedy, or Kerry, or Bush, or Murdoch, or Soros, or Dean, or Mehlman, or Kouric, or Rather at his side.

He probably does have a Rodriguez, a Czernakoski, a Mankowitz, a Bartley, a Pugliese, a Washington, and a Huang. Maybe not the privileged, but they are the few that he would rather have as his band of brothers than the elites who consider themselves too good to serve with them.

Don't bet on that; Harry was NOT a good student at all.

Drudge may not know what he is talking about, but neither do you. In order to go to Iraq, one must:

Join the Army - done

Get a commission - done

complete your requisite officer course - ongoing

join your Regiment - will do soon

Regiment gets posted to Iraq - Expected, but hasn't yet happened

Accompany Regiment to Iraq - On approval of MoD (Uncertain)

So, he is on track to go - but remains to be seen.

That was Prince William's girlfriend, Harry's elder brother.

I wouldn't want the Bush daughters to go to Iraq either to be honest.

Well you don't have to worry about that.

Unless and until his grandmother, father, and elder brother ( without issue...which means without children ) die ASAP, Harry won't be king.

I know whereof I speak. Try reading what I posted!

Yes, he went through Sandhurst ( a quicky training course, as opposed to an actual, full fledged course ), was automatically part of the army upon graduation, and is a commissioned officer. But this bit of "news" has been floated at least two times previously. It is just a rumor, that keeps on being repeated, based on the fact that it is claimed that Harry once said that he wants to go to Iraq.

Still doing his Recce course, last I heard.

I take your point, but we are dealing with the popular press here. Until there is an official announcement from MoD and/or the palace that his Regiment has been posted to a combat zone, and that a decision has been taken that he will not accompany them - we are all just jacking our jaws, to use a French phrase.

Ummmmmmm ..(sic)I was talking about MY child.

If MY child was in his unit....(sic) MY child would be more of a target..(sic)because Harry would be more of a target.

I had a hunch you would come back at me on that point, hence my concluding paragraph.  In the construction of my post, and the only reason I pressed the send button was this thought: if a person of  "stature" is on the battle field, Is the enemy sophisticated enough to know who's who?

The point I was attempting to make is this: your children are as important as anyone else in the battle field.

Sorry, for misreading you.

I kinda figured you might have misunderstood...no problem.

I would never think any soldier, either American or Brit is any less important than Harry..

Yes, good, yes, yes, and yes.

Facts matter and rumors don't. That IS why I said what I said and put the item from Drudge, Drudge, and those who posted nonsense down.

Prince Harry said he wanted to be sent to the war and no favors or he would quit the Army. That has been his position right along

Thank you. That is exactly what I was attempting to say.

I am embarrassed to have missed this inclusion in my post: THANKS TO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN THAT KEEP US FREE. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU; WE LOVE YOU; PRAY FOR YOU; THINK ABOUT YOU.

Better for the "prince" to serve and dispel the comments that the privileged are not serving. Britain has had a long history of its royalty engaged in battle. There is no need to think Harry is any better than his ancestors.
