Yes, it was Christmas time for HST. I looked it up and it was also December 26th.

The Congress. Democrats, and some Republicans too. That's who and what done it. Not Gerald Ford. They cut off the money even to aid our allies the South Vietnamese. Bombing? That would have stopped nothing, but gotten more men captured as POWS after we finally got them out.

Two things did in Jerry Ford in 1976:

1) The Poland remark in his debate with Carter
2) Chevy Chase and SNL

Would seem somehow appropriate if they banged the casket against the door of the hearse as they are loading it in for the last time.

If President Ford had opposed the war in Iraq he would have said so loud and clear.

I wonder what Ford thought of Truman's "police action," which started in 1950, to keep the "bandits" out of Korea.

In the paltry 2 1/2 years that Truman remained in office, 30,000 Americans died for Korea's freedom.

Would Ford have preferred leaving the North Korean dictator in charge of South Korea?

I'm asking a couple of our ping list keepers to add you to the list.

Here's a link to the latest schedule:

Link

5:20 p.m.: Arrival ceremony at Andrews AFB.

5:35 p.m.: A motorcade takes Ford's remains to the U.S. Capitol, traveling through Alexandria in remembrance of his residence in the city as a Congressman and Vice President. The motorcade pauses at the World War II Memorial. The tribute is open to the public.

6:20 p.m.: The casket is carried up the east steps of the Capitol to the door of the House of Representatives, to honor Ford's time in Congress.

6:30 p.m.: Rotunda arrival ceremony, open to President Ford's immediate family, members and members-elect of the House and Senate, visiting heads of state and invited government officials.

7 p.m.: State funeral begins in the Rotunda.

7:30/8:20 p.m. to midnight: Ford's body lies in state until Monday night; the rotunda is open to the public. The public waiting area is located at the southwest corner of the Capitol grounds, across from the U.S. Botanic Garden.

D.C. Chapter mega ping! We'll be gathering at the World War II Memorial on 17th Street tomorrow, Saturday, at 4:30 p.m.

Bring American flags and signs bearing messages of appreciation for President Ford.

The procession will probably arrive at the WWII Mem. somewhere between 5:45 and 6:30 p.m. The weather forecast is for dry conditions with temps in the forties.

Bombing the North Vietnamese is what got them to agree with a truce in the first place.
