There are still a lot of questions about the suspected drunk driver who killed a woman and two of her children while driving under the influence on Christmas Eve.
Carlos Prieto is in the Salt Lake County Jail. In the past couple of hours we've learned that he's been in Utah at least a couple of years and that he may be in the country illegally.
Prieto was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion on vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and driving without a license. Prosecutors are still screening the case, and formal charges are expected tomorrow morning.
Police arrested Prieto on Christmas Eve morning, when he ran a red light at the intersection of 5400 South and 700 East in Murray, and broadsided a car carrying the Ceran family. Cheryl Ceran, her son, Ian, and daughter, Julianna, died. Gary Ceran and two other children survived.
Jail documents reveal that when police arrived at the scene, Prieto smelled strongly of alcohol and had glassy, bloodshot eyes. Prieto admitted to police, he had five beers before getting behind the wheel.
A check of court records didn't bring up any previous arrests, but we learned that two years ago Prieto was cited for speeding and driving without a license. That case was resolved in Salt Lake County Justice Court, after he paid a fine.
A spokesperson for Immigration and Customs Enforcement told me they have interviewed Prieto and believe he is a Mexican national and here illegally.
ICE has issued a hold on him, so he can be turned over to them once the criminal against him is resolved.
Just one more victim of the illegal alien crisis.....nothing to see, move on.
Merry Christmas America.
XOXO
Mexico
What? An illegal alien driving drunk? I don't believe it. Next you'll be telling me he didn't have insurance.
Mexico is the gift that keeps on taking.
W's fault.

Nothing new. Our jails are full of illegals where they get a roof over there head, a dry bed to sleep in, 3 meals a day, cable tv, and a gym membership. Better life then they will ever get in Mexico.
This story is racist because it targets hispanics and makes them look bad......

Just another day in the life of America as the savage invasion continues under the compassionate conservatism of misguided George.
Not exactly comforting.
Another family pays the high price for someone else's cheap labor.
Well this local illegal didn't have a license, insurance when he killed two Christmas morning...>
Did binge fuel deadly hit-and-run?
Juan Diaz Perez, 21, had consumed 18 beers and was on his way to buy more early Monday when his pickup truck slammed into a 1997 Toyota Corolla, killing two people in the car, prosecutors said at Perez's first court appearance Wednesday. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.22, nearly three times the legal limit, and is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and two counts of aggravated driving under the influence.
...under this name.
Illegals statistically are as dangerous as drunk drivers without even drinking...

In California, another study showed that those who have never held a valid license are about five times more likely to be involved in a fatal road accident than licensed drivers.

I don't believe it.
Next you'll be telling me he didn't have insurance.
And no drivers license.
Responsible Citizen, NO!
Before PC he would have been called A Drunk Irresponsible Wetback.
Look logically. The problem here is not that he is illegal. His illegality did not cause the crash.
His drunken condition was the cause. This is precisely why the immigration policy needs to be focused. A focus on 12 million illegals is no focus at all.
Our immigration policy should focus on
- terrorists.
- murderers, rapists, child molestors, drunk drivers, drunk and disorderly and truly bad people.
- welfare parasites.
It is precisely the lack of a good immigration focus that perpetuates the problems. By saying that we are going to deal with all illegals, we end up with no effective policy for any of them.
Excellent point. Business and Government are exacting a form of hidden tax in blood and treasure on hard-working, law-abiding citizens. It's manslaughter with the interesting twist that when a citizen is injured or dies at the hands of these invaders, the money from insurance flows out and guess who collects down the line?
We just had one a day ago here in Indiana. An illegal drunk driver crashed and killed his passenger, another illegal.
