Also despite what we think of her or her politics history was made with the first women speaker in US history.

Hey little backward Britain beat you to it as we have already had a women speaker.

Oh, I knew what you meant. I find your system rather interesting as well. I'm taking a British history class this semester.

I bet his feet ache by the end of today because if you think about it the last few days he had spent 2 or 3 hours a day that we know of just standing about - I would need my foot spa after all of that LOL

Okay. My sleeping has been kind of off. I ended up being awake all night and then falling asleep a little while ago. I woke up when my mom came in the den to turn off the light. I've been avoiding moving much but I think I'm gonna start trying to walk on it tomorrow.

Yeah, when I had the TV on, it definitely wasn't on the news. I had a no news policy today. But there was plenty of CMT and HGTV and CSI to make me happy :)

MUST READ . . .

[I though he looked abit 'gimpy' at the funeral . . . What a worry this must have been for Barbara and the President!]

FORMER PRESIDENT BUSH HAS SURGERY AT MAYO
Associated Press

ROCHESTER — Former President George Bush was in physical therapy at the Mayo Clinic Thursday after surgery a day earlier to replace his right hip.

The surgery, which was completed by 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, was a success, said Mayo Clinic Spokesman Adam Brase. He said the 82-year-old former president is expected to be released yet this week.

Bush traveled to the Mayo Clinic late Tuesday after attending the Washington funeral of former President Gerald Ford, where he delivered a eulogy.

Bush had his left hip replaced at the Mayo Clinic in 2000. Former first lady Barbara Bush also had successful hip replacement surgery there in 1997.

The former president has made several highly publicized skydives in the last decade, most recently in 2004 to celebrate his 80th birthday.

The President is preparing the battlefield for VICTORY:

RASMUSSEN
The President’s Job Approval Ratings have bounced up slightly in the first days of the New Year. Today, 44% of Americans say they at least Somewhat Approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role. That figure includes 77% Approval from Republicans.
http://rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

My editorial comments as posted on another thread:

. . . And this DESPITE the fact that Rasmussen gives Democrats an almost 7 point advantage in his weighting formula -- even though in the 2006 election Republicans represented over 36% of the electorate and Democrats abit less than 38%!

If pollsters would weight their polls FAIRLY, they would discover that the President's JA rating is actually in the 50% range (+/-3).

[Of course, if the MSM would report the news OBJECTIVELY, they would enable the President to maintain a JA rating in the 60s -- which is exactly why neither 'ifs' will ever happen!!!]

I will. I'm supposed to do weightbearing as tolerated. I wanted to give it at least two days before I started. So I'll take it easy. If it hurts too much, I've still got my crutches.
