Washington (AFP): Four top former US foreign policy officials, including ex-secretaries of state Henry Kissinger and George Shultz, called for a world free of nuclear weapons in an opinion piece Thursday. The article, which appears in the Wall Street Journal, is also signed by former secretary of defense William Perry and Sam Nunn, a former chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

THIS William Perry...?
Not only is it a pipe dream, some of the people on here immediately invalidate it for me. Henry Kissinger and George Shultz must both be senile. Sam Nunn? Good god.
"..."Reassertion of the vision of a world free of nuclear weapons and practical measures toward achieving that goal would be, and would be perceived as, a bold initiative consistent with America's moral heritage," the group wrote..."
Boy, is that ever some shining rhetoric. Really easy stuff to say when YOU aren't the one grappling with the problems. They all sound like useful idiots. While some of the proposals sound like very good and do-able ideas, the concept of a world without nuclear weapons as long as there are countries like China, NKorea and Iran around IS a pipe dream.
Their think tank issues a white paper which is just as good as the white paper I use every morning.
LOL!
What a wonderful world it will be when only Iran and north Korea have the bomb.
Having the power to completely vapourise your enemies does give them pause for thought. I believe that given our enemies these days, the power to utterly destroy them needs to be increased, not lessened.

Ronald Reagan was correct. Trust but verify. So, why did Bush not include a verification provision in the SORT Treaty and close the verification process for Bio Weapons Convention? Why do we allow several thousand high alert hair trigger weapons of Russia to remain pointed at us with no debate? Is it foolish to call for universal steps to lower threat with ultimate vision as Pres. Reagan had? Why was US ONLY country to join North Korea to vote against banning everyone from testing nuclear weapons? Why has the debate become mere name calling? STABILITY
William Perry turns 94 today.
They probably want the US to go first, to set a good example for the rest of the world.
What could possibly go wrong?
