McCain Looked into Caucusing with Democrats
1/5/07 | Freespirited

Some of us have joked that McCain would be a great candidate--for the Democrat ticket. But it turns out that there is an element of truth to the joke. This month's Vanity Fair has a long fawning profile of McCain entitled Prisoners of Conscience. It says that the Bush-McCain relationship was so frayed after the 2000 election that in 2001, McCain strategist John Weaver actually sounded out Democratic Senate leaders about having McCain caucus with them. That would have given the Democrats control of the Senate.

The piece goes on to say that it became a moot point when Jeffords left the GOP.

IMO, the GOP establishment has lost its mind to embrace McCain so madly as the Party's 2008 nominee.

What's your evidence that they've done so?

Let him. Nothing will go more to galvanize true Conservatives behind a candidate that has half a chance of beating Hillary than McCain becoming the front-runner.

McCain does not care about the GOP, nor our Constitution, nor the American people, nor much of anything, except POWER and the Oval Office...very much like Hitlery. It will be a tragedy to have to vote for him, just to keep Hitlery out of the Oval Office. God, what has America degenerated into??

That would have given the Democrats control of the Senate.

Basically, McCain did that anyway with the formation of the Gang of 14.

The Democrats controlled the Senate by having their willing accomplices, the RINOs, on their side. The GOP was never in control.

It is scary that the two leading candidates for each party are a couple of power-hungry leeches who will do anything for the job. Unfortunately, it makes Guiliani almost a refreshing change, but I pray we don't have to go there.

He'll need to take penicillin afterwards.

That despicable 'deal' actually subverted the will of the people. There should have been a vote to bust the nominating filibuster... win or lose, it should have happened. Every time this POS creates legislation... it's to the detrement of the Republic.

In some ways it made no difference. McJerk was so ticked in 01 his ACU rating was a pathetic 68.
Some of his 'low lights'...

Accelerated Elimination of Marriage Penalty - voted NO
Capital Gains Tax Rate Reduction - NO
Tax Cut Bill - NO
Medical Savings Accounts - NO
Waiver of the Right to Sue - NO
Campaign Finance Overhaul - Union and Shareholder Consent -- NO
Campaign Finance Overhaul - Union and Corporate Disclosure -- NO Campaign Finance Overhaul - Non-Severability -- NO

He's scum

McCain caucuses with one thing and one thing only, his ego. He serves himself in any and everyway he can. Thus, he votes with the dems because reading and seeing favorable things about himself in the MSM feeds his ego. Maverick my arse.

I doubt McCain's campaign will gain much traction. His only win was Michigan and his MI. supporters have already jumped ship to Romney.

I got an email from Scott Romney the other day( Mitt's brother) asking for support. That could have only came from a listing at the Michigan Republican party.

He is like a carrier of hepatitis (the anti-American strain). No problems himself but he infects others with weak immune (morals and ethics) systems. We need to immunize ourselves against this fifth columnist.

He must have decided that he could be more effective and destructive if he caucused with the Republicans.

The media loves McCain because he (1) can be reliably counted on to take a position harmful to the Administration and (2) he cooks up bills, like McCain-Feingold, even further to the left than the Dems would!

Look how he made the President kowtow to him in 2004. He probably loved all the rumor that he would be Kerry's veep, or serve as SecDef in a Kerry Admin!

What's your evidence that they've done so?

Well, for starters, 70% of Bush's big donors have already pledged their support to McCrackpot. He's already picked up some major endorsements too.

McCain is a Democrat. All RINO's are. They just use the Republican label because the people are too stupid to vote for the Conservative in the primaries.

That's why we must not let McNut be nominated for the 2008. He is totally insane and past evidence shows he is not to be trusted in anything he says.
