I wish that the Houston Chronicle had done more to investigate this murder. It hit too close to home (the corrupt city council).

Yep....Don't think I have ever heard of a guy who runs for election, wins, makes arrangements to move into his new office and then offs himself in a parking lot in the middle of the night.
Local Cops were awfully quick to call this a suicide ( 24 hrs) without any compelling evidence beyond the gun and the atypical wound. Me?...If I were a betting man I'd guess the FBI's public integrity section in New Orleans is already hotted up on this one.
Who gets to be sheriff now? That's who I'd look at.
Obviously, so she would be the face of the typical white southern resident in that area to the nation. The stereotyping of Southerners by the media is a form of racism itself.

Only way the FBI gets involved is if there is interstate issues or public integrity issues.My guess is somebody didn't want the new mayor poking around in town records.That's enough to get the FBI involved.

Westlake is NOTHING like Vidor. He would never have been elected or served all those years on the city council if it had been.
The crime rates have increased some since the hurricanes it's not all the New Orleans folks either. We have had a lot more illegals here who have been implicated for some of the rising crimes. Being that he was shot in Mossville, I wouldn't automatically blame some racist redneck which is the implication.
The rumors were flying about the gambling days before it was confirmed by the press. This *is* a small town.
