The following are excerpts from an e-mail interview conducted by Brian Ross with a person who calls himself Jomo and the leader of MEND. While it is impossible to verify with absolute certainty that the author of the e-mails is in fact who he claims to be, messages from the same e-mail address accurately informed ABC News and other organizations of impending MEND attacks in Nigeria and provided photos of hostages the author says are in his group's custody.

The movement for the emancipation of the niger delta (MEND) is an amalgam of all arm bearing groups in the niger delta fighting for the control of oil revenue by indegenes of the niger delta who have had relatively no benefits from the exploitation of our mineral resources by the nigerian government and oil companies over the last fifty years.

Nigerian Terror Threat: $6 a Gallon Gasoline
******************************AN EXCERPT *********************************

The secretive leader of a Nigerian terror group is threatening "a more ruthless" set of attacks on U.S. and European oil facilities, including burning workers alive on offshore oil rigs.
Nigeria is the fifth largest supplier of oil to the Untied States, and security experts fear new attacks, in combination with parallel attacks in the Mideast, could lead to oil at $120 a barrel and U.S. gasoline prices of $5 to $6 a gallon.
"Every little spike in Nigeria causes us serious problems when it comes to global oil prices," said Ann Korin of the Institute for Analysis of Global Security.
In a series of e-mail exchanges with ABCNews.com, the self-proclaimed leader of a group called MEND, or Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, said previous attacks and kidnappings that had avoided loss of life do not seem to be working.
"We have the capacity to be as ruthless and as callous as attacks witnessed in Iraq," said the writer who goes by the name of Jomo.
Lucky for me that the former Nigerian Finance Minister's wife is sending me $35 million of which I get to keep 30%.
You are all so screwed, but I will be living a life of luxury.
I was just wondering how much Jomo Gbomo was going to cut Brian Ross in on in exchange for his bank account numbers.
ABC is issuing a news item based on e-mails from NIGERIA???
