thanks for the comeback. They took the tsunami warning off about ten O'Clock last night and I finally got to relax and go to bed. These things are scary. We have the siren system all along my area but one wonders how long after the siren goes off do you have to get to safety elevations. I guess they figures if it wasn't a big wave at Midway and Guam, Hawaii had nothing to worry about. Aloha from Maui. fh

Our worst case scenario for a seismic sea wave event comes from the Aleutians to the North and South America down around Chile. There are no islands in the wave's path to give early warning.
There are buoys that measure these events but don't rely on them.
