AIRO, Egypt - The boys' deaths — scattered in the United States, in Yemen, in Turkey and elsewhere in seemingly isolated horror — had one thing in common: They hanged themselves after watching televised images of Saddam Hussein's execution.
Officials and relatives say the children appeared to be mimicking the former dictator's Dec. 30 hanging, shown both on a sanitized Iraqi government tape and explicit clandestine videos that popped up on Web sites and some TV channels.
The leaked videos, apparently taken by cell phone cameras, set off international outrage over the raucous scene at Saddam's execution, but some experts are more concerned about the images of the deposed Iraqi leader dropping through the gallows floor and his body swinging at the end of a rope.
The experts say such graphic images can severely affect youngsters who do not yet understand the consequences of death and violence — especially because Saddam's death received intense international attention.
"They see how it's done, but they don't think it's horrific, and they're more likely to imitate it," said Hisham Ramy, an associate professor of psychiatry at Ain Shams University in Cairo.

"The experts" are wrong again. When my nephew was three he was a regular "Houdini" and could escape almost anything. Hey, its a talent. This talent put him in danger, of course. So his parents explained in his terms that he would be "all gone". He was horrified at the thought of being "all gone". These "experts" don't know how to communicate to kids.
As for Darwin and Devolutionism, I think this proves that there is survival of the species, and that only the brightest survive. I certainly don't think that were devolving...but of course, there is are the Democrats and the Left.

Maybe there is a curse on those who watch the Saddam execution video like in Suicide Club, The Ring, Ringu or any of those other Japanese inspired horror films.
It is wrong to blame all of these deaths on the Saddam execution when I didn't hear about kids jumping out of building after seeing bodies fall to the ground on 9-11.
Police in Houston (where one case happened) said that while there was "no evidence" it was the conclusion they were going to draw.

The parents are in denial and have a handy excuse this week.
We are dealing with highly illogical people.
Maybe thinning the herd isn't a bad thing.
My son got suspended twice last year. Didn't hurt him.
So why didn't the video's of the Mooslims beheading folks cause a bunch of kids to playfully saw each other's heads off? Why didn't the CNN sniper images cause a wave of kids shooting each other from two blocks away?

Geeze; I watched Westerns as a kid, so I knew it was only BAD GUYS who got hung.
Since I was, by definition, a Good Guy, I never had a hankerin' to try hangin' myself.

Are you kidding? Have you seen the insane assinitity of the left these days? We are devolving- years ago- people had common sense- but these days- that goes right out the window evidently- And it's not just here in America either- the whole world is jumping on the short bus and eschewing sensibility like it was herpes. Heck- even though it were herpes- they'd indulge in droves just the same thinking it couldn't happen to them-
God said we'd get to this point, and by golly we are- slow but sure
