"Believe me, you cannot create a desert, hand a person a cup of water, and call that compassion. You cannot pour billions of dollars into make-work jobs while destroying the economy that supports them and call that opportunity. And you cannot build up years of dependence on government and dare call that hope."
- Ronald Reagan

The program will give cash incentives to companies for hiring first-time job holders. Calderon, who took office in December, campaigned on promises to boost employment opportunities in Mexico, vowing to be the "Jobs President."

Gee, what a concept!

Give the man credit -- so far there's no reports of him spending $20,000 on bath towels and a shower curtain.

Employees of Mexicorruption's government organize and oversee Hometown Associations (HTAs) in the U.S. Among the tasks for HTAs is collecting "group remittances" and sending the money to government entities in Mexicorruption.

"there are currently over 700 Mexican HTAs officially registered with the Mexican consulate in the United States, it is generally believed that real numbers are in the thousands."

See "May 31, 2006, Pooling resources through Hometown Associations" on the web site of the Inter-American Development Bank.

Is it asking too much for the government entities in Mexicorruption to kick in a little money?

The vast majority of remittances are individual and go towards basic household consumption but Mexicorruption is trying to squeeze "taxes" out of their citizens here.

Plenty of tunnels to build. Skill set includes shoveling, shoring and placing the compass needle on El Norte. Capacity to haul large loads of bundled agricultural products through small spaces a big plus.
