A samurai sword wielding vigilante has come to the rescue of two Police officers when they were attacked by an armed gang in South Shields, England.
A group of men had forced their way into a house and were ransacking the place when passing plain-clothes officers were alerted by a woman inside screaming.
The criminals outnumbered them and were armed with a hammer, knives and chains and attacked the Police officers.
As one of them stabbed at a Policeman with his knife, a mysterious do-gooder appeared from nowhere and attacked him with a samurai sword.
One of the burglars began running away but was stopped by the stranger who struck him on the arm with the sword.
Two of the criminals were arrested, but in true hero style the samurai disappeared before police could speak to him.
A third man was arrested later and two more are still being hunted.

Samurai or not, if he didn't have a cape then he isn't a superhero. That's the rules.

He should be glad he didn't stick around. It's the UK. He would have been arrested for being a 'vigilante' and defending others with a weapon.

So what about Spiderman then?
To: Skywalk
Your right.
I think it's pretty much against the law to have anything larger and sharper than a butter knife.
They actually and knife turn in. *Chuckles*

Exactly, and they would throw the book at him. I am amazed the perps were not literally cut to pieces.

Spiderman a "Superhero".
A somewhat misguided person in funny red tights, but a Superhero, come on.
To: burzum
One of the burglars began running away but was stopped by the stranger who struck him on the arm with the sword. Sure it wasn't Zorro? Check this criminal and see if where he was struck on the arm resembles the letter "Z".

To: Dave Elias
After he turned down the name "The Human Spider" it was downhill for him. He must be a crook. Why else would the police always want to arrest him. They don't try to arrest Batman or Superman do they?

Superman on the otherhand had a cape but was no Superhero in my book. How can someone with such Omnipotent powers be so parochial and display such a lack of scope.
A self proclaimed protector of the weak who stop muggers in Metropolis but sits idly by while tyrannical dictators kill thousands in the third world and famine wreaks havoc.
To: burzum
most superheros dissed the cape in the early 1990s due to it getting caught during various do-gooding.
i think this was an incident involving the return of "weedhopper."

LOL to both burzum and Dave Elias.
To: burzum
Sounds like the police need to start bringing guns to those knife fights so they won't need a good samaritan to come to the rescue with what is probably an "illegal" weapon.

How come Spiderman got to cherry-pick the best attributes of an arachnid whilst bypassing the propensity to get stuck in baths and curl up into a pathetic ball when frightened?

C'mon! Superman kicked Hitler's butt. Hitler was a piker compared to Stalin. (Although Hitler did better on a day by day bases and gets points on sheer organized murder).
And if you want to go on ratios of Civilians killed to total population; Pol Pot was the Grand Master. (The jury is still out on Rwanda, it may take the prize)

Superman is an American. He can't declare war on his own. Since neither President Roosevelt nor his successors declared war on the USSR he had his hands tied (though I'm sure he still helped out in some covert actions).

Of course he didn't stick around. They throw you in jail for defending yourself with a deadly weapon there. No doubt the sword is "illegal" there too.

Oops, I now see your joke.
Anyways, it still stands that they police will probably try to arrest the swordsman for using force against those who were trying to kill or injure cops.

You forgot the Mao. Your Right.
I cant say for sure, but I remember a number something like 11 million which would still put him behind Stalin (Between 12 and 18 million depending on whos counting).
But the numbers of dead in the Cultural Revolution are real uncertain. Moa could be ahead of Stalin

I think Superman decided he shouldn't interfere in human destiny too much or something like that. It would be too easy for him with his powers to become a dictator himself.

Moral: don't bring hammer, knives or chains to a sword fight. Or for that matter, to a gun fight.

Whatever you do, don't say this to Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Flash, Aquaman, Wildcat, Wonder Woman, Sandman, Starman, Damage, Stargirl, Nightwing, Starfire, or any of their non-caped superhero brethren.
They might have to hurt you.
To: Skywalk; DB; burzum; jan in Colorado
Now if I was one of these two unarmed cops, and this samurai guy saved my partner and I, there's no way I would arrest him for having a sword.
After words of words of gratitude, I would advise him to disappear before any backup cops (who may arrest him) arrive.
IMHO, A very likely scenario in this case.

Oddly enough it's very easy to buy a Samurai sword in Britain. Nor is there a legal issue in owning one. This is the reason why home-defence and vigilante cases in the UK often resemble scenes from "Kill Bill"
Britain is the new Water Margin: no guns, but loads of cool martial arts!

Has anyone pinged that Freeper who was into swords? Speed addict or something? He said he was a felon who couldn't own guns, but was into martial arts. He said the time it takes to cross a room with a sword is just a fraction of what it would take to draw a gun and fire.
Anyone know who he is?
