I called Senator Cornyn's office in Washington, D.C. this morning to urge him to intervene on behalf of the two Border Patrol agents that were imprisoned yesterday. The response from the staffer fielding calls was that, as a former judge, Sen. Cornyn did not believe he should interfere with ongoing cases. When I pressed to see if the senator had plans to ask Pres. Bush to pardon these men, the answer from the staffer was "no". I then urged the man to tell the senator I hope the senator changed his mind.
Simply disgraceful...!
Don't forget the President from Texas......I'm surprised the Bots aren't around telling us what bad guys these Border Patrol agents are...
I have to say I am at wits end with the President. He seems incapable of anything resembling independent action on issues that relate to immigration or domestic. I don't believe he will do anything unless Miss Nancy or Harry Reid ask him too. And we all know they want these guys in jail for daring to enforce laws that effect future voters.
Of course there is also the fact that this law and order President has fought immigration reform from the start

Sen. Cornyn's actions are disgraceful. His loyalty to President Bush on this issue is moronic.
Bush no leader. He's a follower, or a get-out-of-the-wayer. Cornyn seems a lost cause as well.
ping
I'm sure he's received millions of messages, phone calls and petitions saying essentially the same thing. The truth is that HE DOESN'T CARE. He's made it clear where his loyalties lie.
Starting at the top with Gov. Goodhair.
This is one of the weakest Bush bashing tools yet.
I think it's time all the Border Patrol Agents just stopped doing their jobs - just sit back and let EVERYONE come in. I know if I were one, I sure as heck wouldn't be killing myself trying to do my "job"! I think they all should walk off in protest. WHY are we not hearing from any of them????
As an ex-Federal Government who worked for a large and powerful organization let me state the message that their imprisonment would send to me.
1. Well boys (and girls), be very conservative in enforcing the immigration laws. This killing of immigrants has got to stop.
2. Only take action when it is impossible not to act. In your daily duties, follow the form but do not perform the function of a border patrol agent. Man your posts, but enforce only overt violations when a camera is present.
3. We encourage illegals coming into the US. You Border Patrol agents better get with my program or get out.
4. We are watching your actions and the slightest deviation from the party line (not governing legislation) will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. In Navy talk, expect a lot of travel, mid-watches, and assignments to the most remote duty stations in the world.
5. By all means keep your nose clean and observe only what occurs when it is impossible not to.
6. And if all goes well, we can turn the US into a third world country within this generation. Your grandchildren will thank you.
Sorry, but the official statement from the US attorney's office doesn't count as a sound refutation. What would you expect it to say, "yup, we screwed up"? No, it'll stick to the party line and leave out esculpatory evidence.
However, I can be convinced with trial transcripts, which seem to have not been released (that I could find).
That's not all I provided...you provided your "feelings" which are ignorant of the law.
They took eveidence from the scene. FACT
They lied on their reports. FACT
A jury voted 12-0 to convist on multiple felony charges. FACT
Obstruction of Justice is bad.
