Over the last several months, an impression has grown that some in Duke’s arts and sciences faculty place their personal, pedagogical, or ideological agendas ahead of the well-being of their own students.

Why am I not surprised. Be they judges or educators, liberals always put their personal agendas ahead of their responsibilities.

Curtis should be removed, but then I am still waiting to hear that the fake indian from Colorado has been removed. So i guess that wont be the answer.

However the best way to fight this is for people to stop sending their kids to a college where their academic achievements are judged by how closely their political views follow those of their so-called educators.

I would be shocked if these student don't milk Duke and its faculty for a few million. Their behavior was disgraceful. I would not let my child go to Duke if they gave us a full scholarship.

From the Duke website:

Kim Curtis--Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science, specializes in political theory with particular concentration in contemporary continental work and feminist theory. She has written Our Sense of the Real: Aesthetic Experience and Arendtian Politics. She has also published articles on multicultural education, ethical debates among feminists over new reproductive technologies, and the early women's liberation movement. She is currently at work on a book on the feminist movement in the United States that examines the relationship between theory and practice.

Boy, I want my son in her class (/sarcasm)

A Visiting Assistant Professor has no tenure, and can be removed simply by not sending her a contract for next year. No judicial process or review is necessary.

No doubt this professor is radioactive, at this point. But that is precisely what Duke should do. Let her sue if she likes. She has no tenure and Duke has no obligation to hire a Visiting Professor for another year.

" two Duke students reported that (African-American) North Carolina Central students shouted at them and then knocked the male student unconscious when they were picking up food at a local restaurant,"

This case is exposing America's underbelly.

"In loco parentis" ... that was the standard where the teacher acts in place of a parent, with similar duty of concern and care for the student.

Duke's behavior, as has many other colleges since sometime in the 1970's has fallen so far short of that mark, and indeed to such perversion and corruptions of morality that would in other years be criminally actionable that it is insane. Devoid of sanity. Loco, a crazy parent!

The author didn't point out that 4 equally weighted grades of C+, C-, F and an F does not average out to an F. Yet that was the final grade Curtis gave the student threatening his ability to graduate.

The self assurance,” wrote Curtis, ...in the statement issued yesterday by the team that they will be exonerated by the results of the DNA testing makes me wonder if we’ve gotten the full story about who was at the house that night. Were there others present who in fact carried out the rape and who are being protected by everyone else who was there? How do we know who was there?

I would love to learn this woman's DU handle because there's no question that she is one.

Good article and I am impressed with the mission statement of the Pope organization.

I'd never heard of it before but perhaps this Duke mess will bring it some well deserved publicity and further it's mission.

There is no doubt that the Dark Side has taken control over nearly every university including elite schools like Duke. It looks like the people at Pope are ready to fight back.

I'll support them.
