I am of the school that believes so-called "public servants" should avoid even an appearance of conflict-of-interest. They have failed miserably in these funding schemes. I repeat: I think you are being very naive.

The fact is, close members of the governors executive staff are inappropriately taking money from outside interests. The outside interests are NOT paying out this kind of dough without expecting anything in return. Improper? Most assuredly. Criminal? Very likely.

Fact 1. Susan Kennedy is Schwarzenegger's chief of staff.
Fact 2. She is a civil servant.
Fact 3. She didn't want the job of chief of staff because civil servants don't get paid enough, in her mind.
Fact 4. Her annual income is triple what it should be because she is WORKING FOR OTHER INTERESTS. This violates the pact between the people of California and their civil servants, a fact that you don't care to acknowledge.
Fact 5. She has a specially negotiated hiring package that gave her an unprecedented authority to have hiring and firing power over ALL of the executive staff. Since she is a 'green' socialist, it is in her political interests to hire only green socialists to the governors staff.
Fact 6. When average citizens make campaign donations, they don't expect their money is going to pay the salary of civil servants, that money is for CAMPAIGNING.
Fact 7. This CORRUPTION of the purpose of civil servants and campaign contribution rules is what is undermining the rights of citizens to expect their government-- the one they pay for-- to be run in a constitutional manner and with respects for citizens' RIGHTS and freedom.

The governor has nothing but disdain for the rules, and the rights of citizens. That's a FACT.
