describing the proposal allowing presidents to rule by decree as "a bit odd" in a democracy.
Not "a bit odd." Contrary to democracy would be a better description.

I think our current administration has taken the 'remain above the fray' approach way too far. Sometimes you have to call an 'ace an ace' etc. The ridiculous understatement of the above comment is a case in point.

Isn't the traitorous left and its MSM just inviting this anti-American communist filth ??? Of course they are and this nut job is just playing the left for all it is worth.
NOTHING.

------
This adminstration has been weak for over six years and always takes the weakling approach whenever faced by an enemy that uses words like our own socialists and the rest-of-world socialists/communists/dictators.
The big problem is that we get alot of oil from Venezuela, a problem that the same SPINELESS WIMPY government will not let us fix --- now I ask, whose side is our government on???
I really cannot tell at times.

I always thought that quote came from George W. Bush.

For the sake of national security, Chavez needs to be made an example of. Sooner rather than later.

I agree, in part, but I do think a big part of the problem is that of trying to be too 'nuanced'. It's a huge problem throughout our government. One of the great strengths of Reagan, in my view, is that he dealt with things from basic principles, nuance be damned.
With regards getting oil from Venezuela, we ought to just make it clear to him, behind closed doors, that if he tries to use oil as a weapon we will just take it from him, for the sake of 'world stability'. Period.
We should also be telling Mexico's government that they need to understand that Chavez represents a big threat to them because of their large indigent population to whom his erroneous message might resonate. That said, we might consider telling them that Pemex needs to be willing and able to pick up the lost oil production that might occur as a consequence of us dealing with Chavez. We don't play enough hardball.

Chavez also plans to reform the nation's constitution, rewritten in 1999 on a campaign Chavez himself led, to boost state control over the economy and remove a two-term limit for presidents. At least President Hillary can't claim it's an original idea when she tries the same.
