Spelling, grammar and composition MATTER. Lazy, Marxist educators stopped marking down students work and tests for spelling and grammar decades ago, and now everyone is illiterate and completely unable to write prose. Mr. Kelsey, and the organization he works for, loses massive credibility simply by virtue of the fact that sentences like this are allowed to be published:

Um, so neither Mr. Kelsey nor any of the editors of this magazine can properly conjugate the verb to speak into the past participle? Really? Call me a snob, but this sort of cringe-inducing error destroys a writers credibility and this article is a prosaic disaster from beginning to end. It reads as if Obama wrote it. If you cant even speak your native language, how can you possibly be trusted to hold forth on concepts of economics and mercantilism?
It may be that any of this can only be figured out if the person has a relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Good point. In his own day, Churchill had a particularly soaring rhetoric and that helped Britain to survive.
But that was also the time when you had a particularly low and coarse rhetoric of abuse: lackeys, jackals, hyenas, etc. Even Churchill's own rhetoric sometimes led him to make the wrong choices.
Orwell wasn't in any position to law down the law for people. Sometimes his "decent, plain man" routine can wear a little thin. His voice was just one of many in the noise of the time. But it was worth listening to more than so many of the others.

Live in fear? I fear other people, certainly not the Lord.
As I lurch, stumble and bang my way through this life I have this picture in my mind that when I am on my knees before the Lord, he is going to ask me, “Well, was that exciting enough or do you want to keep trying?”
What my answer will be I have no idea because I have anxiously held my arms open for a long time longing for a face to face meeting with the One who knows the answers to all of my questions.
