How far was the border? Should they have let him run, only to find that he did have a gun and shot a citizen who was in his way? I mean, you can really go anwhere with this...they did their job! Cops are not allowed to shoot feeling drug smugglers now? Is that a the new rule of law?

"We are a Nation of Laws.."..

Really? LOL.

Bush wants to give millions of Illegals who broke our immigration laws, amnesty, and you dare argue we are still a Nation of Laws?

There are two sets of laws...one for Illegals and one for Americans. Ain't no in between these days.

Look at Los Angeles, a "Sanctuary City", where there are over 100,000 violent gang bangers, at least half of them Illegal. We are approaching anarchy.

A slap on the wrist would have been sufficient for our brave Border Patrolmen. It's a thankless job.

I don't think that's an issue that can be appealed.

I understand your point, but I just wonder if it is a smart plan in the long run.

Let see every single "fact" you all know about this case has been told to you by activists groups pushing a certain political agenda. Ever think maybe you all ought to be a bit more cynical instead of mindlessly accepting everything screamed at you by political con man knowingly pushing your emotional hot buttons because keeping you all in hysterics makes sure the big fat donations keep flowing into their "Activist group" coffers?

How so?

Any bounce would be fleeting as his approval ratings were in t he tank before the border guard issue

But that right, reality for the Know Nothings is what they FEEL it should be. The only difference between them and the Hysteric Left is what they want Big Govt to do FOR them.

"This is a travisty. Mr. Bush ... pardon or your legacy is finished."

I'd recommend you read the World Net Daily interview with the prosecuting attorney before you make this declaration.

And try running spell-check too.

"We are a nation of Laws..."

Well now that's funny you mentioned that.....you might want to direct your rant towards GWB and crew re: selective law enforcement as it pertains to our interior cities / sanctuary cities.

Since when has the Appellate process been eliminated from our system of Justice?.... Why is it that these convicted felons are talking about their appeals and wanting to stay free while the process proceeds?

I'm going to assume you don't have any emotional hot buttons to push. What in your opinion earned these men guilty verdicts?

No drug runner should have been given innumity, 2 times, for testifying against the agents.

If the drug runner was not given punishment for his crime then the agents should not have been given punishment for theirs.

If looks as if criminals are given immunity while those enforcing the laws are given jail time.

No matter what the facts are it makes a really really bad statement to criminals.

Rules apply to everyone!!!!

As I see it citizens are going to jail while illegal criminals openly break the law.

"This is how Republics die."

You're just chock full of gems today.

Republics DIE when we let 20+ million people wander across our borders unaccounted for.

Here is how Republics are BLED to DEATH:

The judge probably told the jury they may only consider "the facts of the case" and that they cannot let their conscience, opinion of the law,or the motives of the defendants affect their decision... (check your brain at the door please...)

fullyinformedjuries

Bush was saving his 'compassionate conservatism' for the compassionate ,crimalien drug smugglers. That smuggler was probably bringing the pot for free distribution to poor people dying of cancer. geez, where's your compassion, man?

If the drug runner was not given punishment for his crime then the agents should not have been given punishment for theirs.

That's not quite the way it worked in this case. The crime that the agents committed made it impossible to prosecute the drug-smuggler. There are a whole lot of people on FR who do not understand that simple fact.

I haven't seen any evidence yet that these two Border Patrol agents were unjustly convicted. Just because they're cops doesn't make them pure and clean as the wind driven snow. Just because I don't like illegal immigration doesn't mean that I give carte blanche to Border Patrol agents when dealing with someone they ASSUME is illegal, before that fact is proven.
