Bush's 'callous disregard'(Border Patrol Agents)

Congressman Dana Rohrabacher makes the Dixie Chicks sound like bosom buddies of President George W. Bush. Politics being politics, it's easy to dismiss the antipathy liberals have for Mr. Bush. But Bush has lost the support -- and even the respect -- of Mr. Rohrabacher. The California Republican is serving his ninth term and has a lifetime score of 95 from the American Conservative Union. He also has had it with a commander in chief who prefers surrender to being the defender of America's defenseless border with Mexico.
Rohrabacher said the minute two unjustly convicted men who had been Border Patrol agents turned themselves in to start their sentences last week was when he decided he'd no longer hold back any honest comment anymore.
"The nastiness in his personality had been in check until now," he says about President Bush. "Exposing it to the public is pretty disgusting. He has a callous disregard for those who place their lives on the line for us."
He's referring to the surreal plight of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. They were Border Patrol agents until being convicted in federal court for essentially doing their jobs. Each faces more than a decade in prison. Their own government granted immunity in exchange for testimony to a Mexican drug runner who had a van with more than 700 pounds of marijuana when they confronted him in America. One agent shot him in the butt.

"Perhaps the president is hesitant to pardon for fear of offending that Mexican drug dealer and untold others who would rather be confronted in America by anyone other than Ramos or Compean."

They were Border Patrol agents until being convicted in federal court for essentially doing their jobs. They were jury convicted of felonies including obstruction of justice.
These two aren't victims and those defending them are misguided.

I know Bush isn't concerned about his poll numbers (so he says)but if he would pardon those two agents and take a tough, no nonsense stand on illegal imigration he would see his approval numbers jump 15 or 20 points.

Right we really want to encourage the Chief Executive to just arbitrarily ignore Court Decision because of the emotional hysteric of bunch of uninformed Know Nothings and the ranting of con man activists striving to keep the big fat donations flowing into their pressure groups.
If this were a Democrat and he did what you are all bellowing for Bush to do you all would be in utter hysterics demanding Impeachment. NONE of you were in the Court. You have NO idea what the real facts of this case are.

So now our president gives the perception of being in the pocket of a drug dealer (illegal) while he (our president) shows a complete lack of concern for Law Enforcement. It's that old, 'actions speak louder than words'. I cannot understand why our president appears comfortable in the pocket of a drug dealer. President Bush, a pardon would eliminate this perception.

(Bush) has a hidden agenda that is not accepted by the people. He is trying to implement an open-border policy without debate. We will find out in the future that part of his game plan was to make it a fait accompli." Yep, it certainly looks that way.
To: kellynla
People should stop calling for a pardon for these two just because the other guy is undesirable.
It is like the Muslims who think women who show their skin are asking to be raped.
We need to close the borders and keep these illegals out but that in no way means border patrol agents can break the very important rules of their profession.
If President Bush pardons them he should also demand they never work in law enforcement again, they are not very good at it.

And tonight Bush will again call for amnesty. I won't watch, I can't anymore. You mean the thought of tens of millions of new Democrat voters (many of whom are already addicted to gov't freebees, and few of whom speak English) doesn't sit well with you?

Yep... it can get to where these politicians, talking heads, pundits and wannabees grate on one until it becomes annoying. I've gotten to where I listen to very of little of them anymore and instead try to read and study the issues minus the verbal/visible inflections added by the orator. This way all you have to attempt to sort out is the written prejudices of the writer...

I read a thread here that said that he's reviewing their conviction.
I certainly agree --- I would love to see a no nonsense policy against ILLEGAL immigration.

We are a nation of Laws despite the Baby Boomers best efforts to turn us into a nation of hystieric emotional whimsy. This is how Republics die. When the mental and emotional discipline of the people becomes so eroded every demagogue and political con man who is obviously, and shamelessly, pandering solely to the emotional whimsy of the listeners is taken seriously instead of laughed to scorn.

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen...another Republican bashing the President!!!! Oh this is just routine and is very sad. One does wonder why we lost the election. This certainly is the worst group of Republicans I have seen in years. Yes what the congressman is saying might be valid, but there has to be other ways to get the message out there than bashing the Commander in Chief. I guess we will be in the minority for a while until we learn something about loyalty. I believe we got it right when we said to the Dixie Chicks "Shut up and sing". I say the same to the congressman "Shut up and work".
