"The nastiness in his personality had been in check until now," he says about President Bush. "Exposing it to the public is pretty disgusting."

I'm throwing the pot-kettle flag.

The question I have is this.If Ramos and Campeon thought their actions were justified, why did they apparently attempt to cover it up.

One of the articles I read hints at the answer.

It stated that 14 seperate cases, other than this one, of BP agents shooting illegals have been investigated in the past year. In 4 of the cases, an illegal was killed.

In all cases, other than this one,the agents involved were exonerated.

The difference appears to be the coverup. In the other cases, there was none.

[I wonder what other border patrol agents think of this case.]

Not a Border Patrol Officer, but i was a Peace Officer in TX for 22 years. From what I've read on this case, there were several departmental policies and procedures violated. As if that wasn't bad enough, then they tried to cover it up. When you cease to obey the law, you can no longer be trusted to enforce it. I wonder what their story would have been if the subject had died on the spot, would there have been a story? Would there have been a report? By trying to cover this up, they make those legitimate questions.

Your post makes no sense.
They were convicted of felonies and received "guideline" sentences.
Law isn't about "feelings" regarding other issues.

You are EXACTLY right: no matter what reservations one might have on purely "legal" grounds for the BAs and their relative "guilt", it is the DRUG SMUGGLER who is being cast as the hero in this incident, the DRUG SMUGGLER who is the "injured party" ,the DRUG SMUGGLER who was GIVEN IMMUNITY, the DRUG SMUGGLER who was SOUGHT OUT and FOUND by Federal agents INTENTIONALLY and that is the NET RESULT of this Administration's stance on this issue and incident, and it is LAUGHABLE AND PATHETIC, and WE WILL OPPOSE IT. For those able to see the forest for the trees, that is REALLY what is going on here, and it creates as much "cognitive dissonance" as anything this Administration has done in 6 years.

And tonight Bush will again call for amnesty.

Who is he calling tonight, his buddy Fox?? After I heard today that he had refused money that was approved to train deputies to help in illegal immigration. They can drag his sorry butt out of the white house, and it wouldn't bother me one bit.

The Prez said he would look at the case carefully. The hysterics involved here are way over the top.

Please read the following argument.

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53873

Yet, from the get-go, Sutton cleverly reframed the issue to bias the trial in the government's favor. This was the point of charging Ramos and Compean inappropriately under 18 U.S.C. Section 924(c). The statute presumes those charged, namely Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean, were involved in the commission of a crime when they fired their weapons. This is totally inaccurate and misleading given the facts of the case. Yet, the presumption of 18 U.S.C. Section 924(c) – that criminal behavior was already being conducted by the accused – appears precisely suited to the impression Sutton wanted to create. The criminals here, according to Sutton, are the law enforcement officers. Every presumption Sutton made was sympathetic to the drug dealer in this case.

We are a nation of Laws despite the Baby Boomers best efforts to turn us into a nation of hystieric emotional whimsy.

Yeah, Johnnie. I'm glad you brought this up. ILLEGAL aliens are in this country..........uh, ILLEGALLY! That a LAW on our books! Now, when our President SWORE on the Bible to uphold the laws of our land, and yet, he does NOT OBEY the LAWS of THIS LAND by enforcing the LAW that says ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION is AGAINST the LAW, then he is breaking the law too, not to mention HIS WORD SWORN ON THE BIBLE!!!

Or, do you think it's OK for Bush to break the law too?

These two aren't victims and those defending them are misguided

Agreed what they did was not right, however, putting them in prison is way to hell over the top, and going to Mexico to get a drug dealer to file charges is outrageous.
