Chris Matthews Calls Hillary Clinton Dukakis in a Dress
Posted by Noel Sheppard on January 21, 2007 - 21:53.
With the love-fest that is currently going on over Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois), it is certainly no surprise when a group of mainstream media members gets together to discuss Hillary Clintons shortcomings. Yet, it is quite odd to hear someone like Chris Matthews state that the current frontrunner for the 2008 Democrat presidential nomination and a former first lady is a female incarnation of one of the biggest left-wing failures in decades (video available here courtesy of our friend at Ms Underestimated).
To set this up, the panel in the first segment of Sundays The Chris Matthews Show was discussing presidential candidates. As they moved in Al Gores direction, Norah ODonnell stated that Democrat party leaders are concerned about Hillarys chances in the general election, and that a more senior and experienced candidate like Gore might be the ticket so to speak.
That precipitated this rather shocking exchange between ODonnell and Matthews:

ODonnell: And its not necessarily on the war. But they want, the Democrats are so sick of losing. They just want someone that can win a general election.
Matthews: Why do they think she wont win a general?
ODonnell: Because they believe that she is too polarizing a figure because of her past.
Matthews: Dukakis in a dress.
Amazing.

I sense a wonderful photoshop opportunity here - Hillary wearing a tank helmet with the tape showing "Dukakis" crossed out and replaced with "Clinton"?

I don know who should be more insulted.
To: lowbridge
She's more divisive than Dukakis, who was just ridiculous. She's also more inspiring to her base than Dukakis who was like the proverbial more boring than watching paint dry candidate. And she will inspire the right like to other candidate. I think a lot of people thought Dukakis was a liberal and for that reason he was probably dangerous, but not nearly as dangerous as her.
Bad analogy, Chris.
To: spyone
Hillary Dukakis...I LOVE IT!!! Finally, something other than excrement comes out of Chrissy's mouth.

The SNL skit must have really stung. Darrell Hammond was very good, although the Hillary actress was terrible and it was about 2 minutes too long.

This implies that Dukakis would not wear a dress. Don't know if I agree.
Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a photo of Hillary in a dress.
To: Rodm
Hillary in a tank! LOL! Somehow I don't see her getting her hips through, I have the image of Pooh Bear when he got stuck in Rabbit's hole now in my head.
To: lowbridge
Hillary definitely doesn't look like she is comfortable in her own skin...Dukakis was the same in that regard. On top of that, she just isn't likable.

Chrissy is doing damage control. He must be embarrassed to death over the SNL skit. Of course, he doesn't have the decency to be embarrassed about the things he says every day. He just is upset over being mocked. They called him a suck-up. And...?

Dukakis probably would have been a weak president, a captive of all the liberal interest groups, but at least he had some executive experience and seems to be a genuinely decent person. Neither of those applies to Hillary.
To: spyone
Matthews better hope she doesn't win, he will never, never, be forgiven for this.

All of the above in a lesbo pantsuit?
