CHENEY CALLS BLITZER QUESTION ON DAUGHTER'S PREGNANCY 'OUT OF LINE' Wed Jan 24 2007 13:41:22 ET

In an interview taped to air for today's 'Situation Room' on CNN, Vice President Cheney responded sharply to anchor Woilf Blitzer's line of questioning regarding the pregancy of Cheney's lesbian daughter:

Blitzer: Your daughter Mary, she's pregnant. All of us are happy. She's going to have a baby. You're going to have another grandchild. Some of the -- some critics, though, are suggesting, for example, a statement from someone representing Focus on the Family:

"Mary Cheney's pregnancy raises the question of what's best for children. Just because it's possible to conceive a child outside of the relationship of a married mother and father, doesn't mean it's best for the child."

Do you want to respond to that?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: No, I don't.

Blitzer: She's obviously a good daughter --

VICE PRESIDENT: I'm delighted -- I'm delighted I'm about to have a sixth grandchild, Wolf, and obviously think the world of both of my daughters and all of my grandchildren. And I think, frankly, you're out of line with that question.

Blitzer: I think all of us appreciate --

VICE PRESIDENT: I think you're out of -- I think you're out of line with that question.

Blitzer: -- your daughter. We like your daughters. Believe me, I'm very, very sympathetic to Liz and to Mary. I like them both. That was just a question that's come up and it's a responsible, fair question.

VICE PRESIDENT: I just fundamentally disagree with your perspective.

"That was just a question that's come up and it's a responsible, fair question."

What question? Cheney answered the only question that he asked.

Cheney is not thin skinned, it was Bliz that couldn`t handle the criticism. Also, remember how the Rats went nuts over anything said about Clinton`s daughter?

Wolf, what do you say we talk about that over a good round of goose hunting?"

I agree, Dick, let by-gones be by-gones and offer to take him hunting.

I'm glad to see the VP cut off this line of questioning so forcefully. Clearly, he recognizes that the issue, aside from being deeply personal, is absolute poison to the GOP.

Thus, I guarantee this won't be the last we hear of it. The media won't be able to resist.

Wolf "likes" Mary Cheney but was trying to bait her father into publicly condemning her.

What a sleaze. Did he ever try to bait Hillary or Bill into condemning Chelsea's public drunkenness and binge drinking?

Wolfie trying to be tough, asked why we haven't got OBL, badgering old arguments, Saddam was just a simple innocent bystander in the ME.

I wonder why CNN has not found OBL?

They have reporters everywhere in the ME looking for protection for Obamasama.

I wish more GOP politicans would stand up to the media.

Politicians need the media like an actor needs a mirror, and can't afford to offend them directly.

The only people who seem to do it are both Dick and Lynne Cheney.

Not running, therefore can afford to offend at least a little. (Still in office.)

CNN would be MAD if we got OBL...because they wouldn't have him as a sword of Damocles to hold over the Bush Administration's head....

I AM SO proud of Cheney...he isn't just telling it like it is...he is NOT letting Wolfie interrupt him!!
