Something’s Wrong with Kim Jong-il... in Power Struggle or Detained?

[Newsis[ Quoting a reliable source in S. Korea, Jiji Press of Japan reported on Jan. 26 that there is an intelligence that something may be wrong with Kim Jong-il recently.

In its dispatch from Seoul, it reported that Kim Jong-il is not in Pyongyang, and intense power struggle could be going on between factions inside his inner circle.

Intelligence outfits of U.S. and S. Korea are now trying to verify this now, according to the report.

The source suggests the possibility that something might have happened to Kim Jong-il's health. The report also added that there is also a rumor circulating which says Kim being detained by (N. Korean) military.

Another view suggests that Kim Jong-il may be staying at his luxury villa in Wonsan on (N. Korea's) east coast.

It is difficult to tell the veracity of these pieces of intelligence at this moment, but if true, this could create 'power vacuum' in N. Korean leadership which has Kim Jong-il as its absolute supreme leader, and have great impact on (N. Korean) regime, according to the report.

On the other hand, an S. Korean intelligence official reportedly emphasized, "They did not detect any particular signs (of such developments)", showing skepticism on such intelligence. [Seoul=Newsis]

I read the allegation on S. Korean Internet site run by a local military analyst that Kim may be detained by the military a couple of days ago. I was not sure if it is really true. Anyway, now it is reported by an news outlet.

We will see how it will develops. Crossing fingers.

Hopefully a severe case of lead poisoning or perhaps that tight thickening feeling that so many in Iraq have felt around their necks. Or better yet, maybe an improvised explosive device went off under his Mercedes.

If there was a military coup, they wouldn't be holding him if they had an ounce of smarts (unlike those revolting idiot coupists in Venezuela that let Chavez return), they'd just wax him and declare that he died of 'Heart Failure', Soviet-style.

Kim is probably just out waterskiiing and the North Koreans put their navy on alert as a matter of protocol.

"detained" ?

Somehow I doubt it. Hope it's true, though.

This just in, Kim Jong-il is either dead, alive, in jail, or not in jail.

"Something May be Wrong with Kim Jong-il... "

You can tell that by looking at him. That goofy little fart could be a big attraction in a traveling Freak Show. "Come see Chimpanzee-Man!!!! 25 cents a ticket!!!"

Anyway, I hope they have put two slugs in the brain pan by now. Thanks for the translation and the post.
