U.S. confirms troops' kidnapping in Iraq (4 GIs Handcuffed And Shot In Head)
AP ^ | 26 January 2007 17 Minutes Ago | STEVEN R. HURST and QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA

Posted on 01/26/2007 1:44:39 PM PST by shrinkermd

Four American soldiers were abducted during a sophisticated sneak attack last week in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, the U.S. military confirmed Friday. It said three were shot to death and a fourth was mortally wounded with a gunshot to the head when they were found in a neighboring province, far from the compound where they were captured.

Two of the four were handcuffed together in the back seat of an SUV near the southern Iraqi town of Mahawil. A third dead soldier was on the ground nearby. The fourth soldier died on the way to the hospital, the military said in a statement issued late Friday that confirmed details reported by The Associated Press earlier.

On Jan. 20, the day of the raid on a security meeting in Karbala, the military said five soldiers were killed repelling the attack.

The brazen assault, 50 miles south of Baghdad, was conducted by nine to 12 militants posing as an American security team, according to two senior U.S. military officials as well as Iraqi officials. They traveled in black GMC Suburban vehicles _ the type used by U.S. government convoys _ had American weapons, wore new U.S. military combat fatigues, and spoke English.

If the people who did this are found to be from the Shiite Holy City of Karbala, then Karbala should become a shitty pile of rubble full of holes.

However if they turn out to be from elsewhere, then that place should learn what it's like to be under a Linebacker III raid.

Hillary has already tried to make hay on this sick, cowardly attack.

There was a post yeaterday or the day before where she said this is an example of how unsafe and unprepared our troops are for this type of war and why we should look to draw down our committment now!

Hillary isn't the only one who feels this way. These kind of atrocities will gather even more momentum for a withdrawal. And I'm starting to lean in that direction.

If I had had my way, the opening salvo of this war would have been to drop "one large" on Mecca and Medina. That would've been an immediate attention getter. Still not too late, you understand.

Screw that! German soldiers did similar things and almost broke through allied lines. You DON'T back down. You hit harder until you break the enemy's back.

I suppose it would be pointless to acquaint her with the facts concerning Japanese treatment of captured G.I.s in the War in the Pacific. Geneva Convention? What's that?

I must me missing something. Why would they go through all the trouble to pretend to be Americans, kidnap a low level squad, just to shoot them and abandon their vehicles?

What am I missing here?

Thank you. That video warmed my heart.

I want the guys who shot our troops in the head. And I want the guys who tortured and mutilated our two soldiers last summer. I want them to know the wrath of of our soldiers and Marines whose brothers they killed. I want them scattered in pieces all over their God-forsaken land

God forgive me.

Our president has better control of his temper than a lot of us do. This is one of the times that I wish he did not.

The daily threats against us and Israel combined with the socialist opportunists in our own country have got to be taking their toll.

One thing that my grandfather used to tell me is ringing loud:

"Never piss off a nice guy."

The soldiers that were murdered were from Alaska.

The raid was likely for the benefit of Congress....folks like Ted Kennedy who is a (fill in blank with an unspeakable word of your choice) and a jerk. His last set of histrionics was just too much for me. Ba$tard. (spits)

In another time the word **traitor** would be used in public, but none dare speak it now.

Shiite holy city of Karbala<

I know this isn't politically correct, but to keep any other ragheads from thinking they can get away with something like this, I would encircle that shit[e] city so no one could leave and then let them see up close and personal just what an arc-light B-52 strike is like!

Also..there was a line in this article that said something about a computer being taken...I wonder if they found THAT.

If not...it could be the "reason">

I'm with you on this, in re waiting for a "reputable source".

From article: was conducted by nine to 12 militants posing as an American security team, according to two senior U.S. military officials as well as Iraqi officials. They traveled in black GMC Suburban vehicles _ the type used by U.S. government convoys _ had American weapons, wore new U.S. military combat fatigues, and spoke English.

"Militants". Perhaps, of the ideology of we "support our soldiers who shoot their commanders"?
