NBC's Anti-Rudy Push Poll
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/27/2007 9:01:32 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Definition: Push Poll: "A push poll is a political campaign technique in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll. Push polls are generally viewed as a form of negative campaigning. The term is also sometimes used incorrectly to refer to legitimate polls which test political messages, some of which may be negative. Push polling has been condemned by the American Association of Political Consultants."
Melissa Russo, political reporter for NBC's NYC affiliate WNBC, recently followed Rudy Giuliani up to New Hampshire. In her report on this morning's "Today," Russo stressed that at a GOP campaign stop, Giuliani failed to inform the Granite State Republicans that "he's far from a social conservative."

View video here.

So Russo decided to take it upon herself to inform them. Here's Russo interviewing a nice Republican lady:

Russo: "Did you know he was pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro gay rights?"

Nice Republican lady: "No-o-o-o."

Russo: "Would that affect your support for him?"

Nice Republican lady: "Ye-s-s."

Have a look again at that definition of push polling. Sound to you like Russo was engaging in it?

People get permits for parades and such, the Mayor is a public official beiing courteous to some of the citizens of his city, the sun will rise tomorrow, yawn.........

You didn't read a single thing in that post, did you...

Go click on the list of "HONORARY" members of the riot produced Stonewall Veterans and see the company with which Giuliani is included. This has nothing to do with parades and permits, but advocacy and support for radical gay groups and their agenda.

I agree; hate the sin but don't rebuke the sinner.

Your ever post reeks of prejuidice and hatred, smugness and sanctimony.

Only because you can't handle the truth and you just don't like what I have to say.

The truth as YOU see it; thank God the rest of us live in the real world.

But you're right about one thing: I don't like what you have to say because it's filled with mean, ugly distortions.

As I said before, you seem hell bent on destroying this man; I have to wonder why.

Because, as a conservative Republican, I am hell bent on keeping a liberal from being the Republican nominee in 2008. It is that simple. I'm not trying to destroy the man, his own choices will do that for him. I'm trying to destroy his chances at winning the Republican nomination.

In case you've forgotten, that's what we do here. We fight liberals and liberalism. We promote conservatives and conservatism. We work to keep liberals out of office. We work to support putting conservatives into office. I could possibly settle for a moderate this time around, though I've been burned far too many times, but the WoT demands a Republican President. However, Giuliani is not a moderate. He is a pro-abortion, gun-grabbing, pro-amnesty, pro-radical gay agenda, northeast establishment liberal.

The very idea that he could become our nominee for President is offensive to me. And, worse, he won't win the general election if he does win the nomination. He will split the party and all of the baggage he's gained as mayor of New York will be fodder for the Democrats to wipe him out. Not only will he lose, but he'll destroy the Republican Party in the process. That is what is at stake here. And if you stand in the way of the conservative Republicans who are working to keep him out of the nomination, you're going to get steamrolled. While I can't support McCain or Romney, they don't pose the same threat. McCain or Romney could win and neither of their candidacies would destroy the party. Giuliani will lose and the Republican Party will never recover. Again, that is what is at stake. Now you may understand my urgency of nipping Giuliani's campaign in the bud.

The very same clowns that have been dogging Keyes and making up reams of stuff about him are the same people that attack Jim Robinson and Free Republic over its finances. Given your insinuation about Keyes and his conservative organizations, it is an easy conclusion to make that you're right along with them in questioning Free Republic operation

You have got to be kidding me! Howlin regularly supports the Feepathons.

Are you nuts?

Does it not occur to you that the rest of us here have our own minds and can read the same stuff you read and make up our own minds?

Does it bother you that much that people here aren't as SHRILL as you are; does pragmatism offend you?

And I know what we "do" here; we're all conservatives here, just some of us are more "extreme" than others.

You just cannot take it because not that many people agree with your view of the world.

Tough.

The very idea that he could become our nominee for President is offensive to me.

Well, there's plenty around here that offends me, starting with your sanctimonious rantings to the rest of us.

Ryan had to leave the race. No one stepped forward to run against Obama. Keyes put himself out there to be the guy that would get beat and beat bad but to at least put up a fight. He knew he would lose but he wanted to cause Obama the most pain he could. And if some scandal had taken Obama out at the last minute, maybe Keyes could have won it and there'd be a Republican in that seat right now. I didn't see you stepping up to the plate to take one for the team in Illinois.

Obama won in a LANDSLIDE. Keyes has never won an election. Keyes is largely reviled in the GOP.

He's not a Liberal. The party supports him 100%. It's just that no one can live up to the demands of the More-Conservative-Than-Thou part of our party.

The GOP supports him. Always has through all his elections. What does that make you?

Those are a couple of the issues I've been involved in over the years. Which, of course, demonstrates the foolishness of your boilerplate RINO insult that is cast towards conservatives here in ever-increasing volumes.

Insult? What insult? How did I insult you? Calling you a Rudy hater isn't a insult. Anyone who reads your posts regarding Rudy can determine that for himself or herself, providing they are unbiased, intelligent posters. What makes you a single issue type is your endless exaggeration and distortions, and you never ending trashing of Rudy. You can wrap yourself in the flag of conservatism all you want.

I know I'm a true conservative who likes to support winners, so I take the name calling from those who support losers as the wind whistling out of my window.

But, I am "unappeasable" in this sense: I won't settle for liberalism in any dose.

Who cares what you settle for, just don't spam the Rudy threads with so much distortion.

Rudy, if he can get the nomination, appears to have as good a chance as any to have a large base of support among Republicans, Independents, and dems perhaps disenchanted with the dem nominee.

Absolutely.

Since your such a strong Hunter supporter I'd appreciate you answering a question that's been on my mind for the past several weeks since I first heard of Duncan Hunter.

Let me first say I live in So. California and have for quite a long time now.

Q. Duncan Hunter has been a congressman since 1981. Why is it except for those who live in the San Diego area no-one had ever heard of him until he decided to throw his hat into the ring and run for President?
