WATERLOO, Iowa -- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has this message to Iowans: Focus on his political resume, not the liberal reputation of his home state.

Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, touted his conservative credentials on Friday in Waterloo.

He has already visited Iowa at least a dozen times as he builds support and name recognition in the leadup to Iowa's leadoff presidential caucuses.

In Waterloo, Romney mixed details of personal and family background with campaign themes. Romney said he is proud of his record on education and balancing the state's budget.

On education, Romney boasted of student performance on federal testing on English and math, growth of charter schools, state-funded college scholarships and approval of a ballot initiative that ended bilingual education.

Since the oligarchy demands gridlock, an unknown's selection for our president in 2008 is a possibility.

For me, Mitt Romney is still a viable candidate for the GOP nomination in 2008. However questions remain. Conservatives want Mitt to convince them he isn't a flip flopper who engaged in political expediceny, but rather a serious conservative.

In all honesty this guy is further to the left than McCain or Rudy G. I intend to support one of those 2 over Rommney

Romney may be the best of the "front runners." I think there are still some conservatives in the race that didn't need to flip-flop to appeal to the base. Here's hoping Duncan Hunter gets some traction.

In all candor, you don't know what you're talking about to say Romney is further to the left than Giuliani.

This FReeper testosterone-laden pissing competition ("My guy's further to the right than yours") is interesting, and often humorous, but ultimately has little to do with who can and will defeat Shrillery, and who will convince the American people to get behind the war against Islamofascists.

Why settle for a Rino when there are better options?

If you liked Gov. George Ryan, you'll love Rudy McRomney!

Hillary may not be the Democratic candidate. That's a simple matter of fact.

True. It's also irrelevant.

After the p*ss-poor showing of the Republican Party lately, we need someone who is going to give the American people a reason to trust a Republican president to fix what is wrong.

They have to be conservative, yes, but they'd also better be inspiring.
