The Talk Shows
Sunday, January 28th, 2007
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sens. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.; Ellen Miller, executive director of the Sunlight Foundation.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee; Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and David Vitter, R-La.; former presidential speechwriter Michael Gerson; Kenneth Pollack, a Brookings Institution analyst.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sens. Jim Webb, D-Va., Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Arlen Specter, R-Pa.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sens. Joe Biden, D-Del., and Richard Lugar, R-Ind.; Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif.; actor Kevin Bacon.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Sens. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.; former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele; Democratic strategist Donna Brazile.
Will someone please explain to me the obsession with Joe Biden that all the Sunday show hosts have? Dick Lugar I can understand, he is a Republican the democrat-favoring driveby media can count on to prove the dem talking points, but Biden? First of all Biden is running for President as a dem and will challenge such DBM darlings as Hillary and Obama. Secondly, he's not very bright. Finally, he simply appears too much, one would think the hosts would worry that his constant appearances would hurt ratings.
I guess they must get good ratings with Biden as he's always on. I think our little contingent of DBM Sunday watchers mnust be the unimpressed with Biden minority!

After Words with Frank Luntz
John McCaslin , Washington Times

Oh, good, an authority on the war in Iraq, I assume.
I just read Alas, Babylon a couple months ago and loved it, passed it on to a friend who also loved it.
Kevin Bacon? Six Degrees of Hillary?
Two degrees of Hillary, that's where there's only two degrees of separation between Hillary and every broad Bill has nailed.
I fully agree with you about Biden as many others. Even liberals like Dana Milbank expose Biden's Talk Show & presidential jostling.
(Nice article with humor).
No. The type Hillary likes would be two degrees of separation from Rosie O'Donnell, not Kevin. Kevin's girlfriends might like men too much.
Oh, you said Bill! Well, true, if Hillary likes ugly fat broads. Come to think of it, Rosie is one, hehehe.
Exciting lineup of guests today. /s
Judging by those we know he nailed the term Broad is appropriate.
Someone needs to do a count on the # of appearances they make a year. I bet ten senators make more appearances than the other 90 combined.
Prediction: Coming soon: LKL's soft interview of Mama Hillary w/her child.
08:28 AM EST
Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid
Jimmy Carter , United States
Alan M. Dershowitz , Harvard University
I am watching Carter have trouble in reading his prepared remarks. No wonder this meeting did not get much publicity before it took place on 1/23.
What Dershowitz may say at this event will be more interesting than what the guests on today's Sunday shows will say.
You 're right. Another prediction: her brother will not be there and LK will not ask anything about him.
Looks like FNS has the only lineup worth wasting electricity on this morning. Other than that, the same worn out faces are making the rounds again. Wonder where McPain is today? Suspiciously absent again.
Woke up happy on a Sunday morning, turned on my radio to hear the news at the top of the hour start with the voice of Hillary in Iowa yesterday, and the "news" that she will be having another event in Iowa today.
Turned the radio off.
Huckabee comes out against open opposition to our efforts in Iraq. Timmy asks if there is anything he differs with Bush about.
He mentions some concern about our use of the National Guard. A nice reply, soft, not nasty.
Timmy is hammering Huckabee on taxes.
Maybe Huckabee is just triangulating and going after the Democrat votes.
Geez! Every Democrat on MTP is praised for "balancing" the budget by wanting to raise taxes.
I'd have thrown the radio out the window.
Well to the MSM that's the ONLY way it can be done.
Thanks for that link, anita. I saw a short blurb about his appearance this morning on Fox, and really wanted to know what he said.
Huckabee is doing a very good job and is not coming off like a southern bumpkin.
Timmy asks if he considers America a Christian nation and would he lead the country that way. Huckabee is ready for him. I think Timmy is going to be upset.
You guys who get MTP later, do try to catch Huckabee. He is very self-confident and prepared. Much better than I expected when he gets to talk about something other than his weight loss. I know virtually nothing about his record and this is not meant to be an endorsement.
He almost agreed with Chris Mathews on HardBall show on our efforts in Middle East. I think he is going after MSNBC crowd.
Well, you don't think they'd cut spending do you? I mean beside Defense spending....
Last November's election was like watching a train wreck before it happened. I knew it was going to happen if many conservatives wanted to punish the RINOs by not voting for Republicans. Given that, it was a sure bet that if enough conservatives sat out, their taxes would be raised. So here we now are!
Then this may be nothing more than slick politics by Huckabee, but he is doing quite well at it.
Barney Fife to Barney Frank.....LOL
My grandson is reading Alas, Babylon in AP English. He has tried to find some 'right' web sites, but has just found 'left' ones. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. He has to tie in how the book relates to the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Simply a question designed to put him on the spot. I'd like to see the same question poised to all the dem candidates. I'm sure the answers would be very enlightening, if they'd answer at all.
Russert's just a democrat shill in a fat man's suit.
Chris Wallace just asked Brownback if he thinks a Mormon is a true Christian.
Words fail me.
To prevent future morning headaches, get rid of your radio. ;D
My pleasure. Unfortunately, other guests did their job of throwing stones at our Prez. These people always care about throwing stones, like when Rome is buring that King playing violin. See what people like Hugh Hewitt is doing. I think they are conservative MSM.
The questions were all along the lines of "The No Child Left Behind act isn't funding our schools, what can we do?" Or "Traditionally female jobs are the lowest paid positions, what can we do?"
The best part was hearing Hillary sing the National Anthem off key in her screechy voice. Sha apparently didn't have the sense to simply mouth the words. HA!
Huckabee seems to be the only credible conservative candidate worth his muster, would be an excellent candidate in the General Election and stands by his principles.
At this point Conservatives need to band together quickly around a candidate before McCain and Giuliani take up all the coverage and out of all the candidates Huckabee is definitely the best. In fact, he's the best choice for many reasons.
I don't want to bore everybody here with more on Carter at Brandeis, but I just have to share that Carter has answered two questions by blaming his publisher for the title of his book, either having or not having a colon between the words "Palestinian" and "Peace."; and then blaming the editors of the book for a passage which implied that suicide bombing was acceptable until Israel accepted International Law, etc, etc. (my paraphrase)
So far I have not seen or heard Dershowitz in this portion of the program. Carter is just answering pre=screened audience questions.
He did a pretty good job of pointing out the taxes were voted on by the people. You can't really complain about it if it was overwhelmingly approved by the public.
I'd like to see him ask that yokel from Minnesota that was just elected to the House if he would run the country as a Muslim country.
I'd like to be in the House when the guy decides to bring out the prayer rug and pray to Mecca three or four times a day.
Will the House just come to a standstill?
I think every democrat in Congress who thinks raising taxes is the only way to balance the budget should send any and all extra income to the IRS as a gift. I don't the IRS ever refused to take additional $$$s.
