A plan by the Bush administration to release detailed and possibly damning specific evidence linking the Iranian government to efforts to destabilize Iraq have been put on hold, U.S. officials told FOX News.
Officials had said a "dossier" against Iran compiled by the U.S. likely would be made public at a press conference this week in Baghdad, and that the evidence would contain specifics including shipping documents, serial numbers, maps and other evidence which officials say would irrefutably link Iran to weapons shipments to Iraq.
U.S. officials charge Iran is supplying explosives used to make the roadside bombs causing 70 percent of the deaths of U.S. troops and backing Shiite militias opposed to the Maliki government.
Now, U.S. military officials say the decision to go public with the findings has been put on hold for several reasons, including concerns over the reaction from Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as well as inevitable follow-up questions that would be raised over what the U.S. should do about it.
One military official pointed to recent anti-Ahmadinejad comments coming from inside Iran including from former President Mohammad Khatami who has urged a reduction in tensions with the United States as an indication that Ahmadinejad may already be under growing domestic pressure. Given that, there is some feeling that now may not be the best time for the U.S. to be making a public case against the Iranian leader without risking an anti-U-S backlash.

Gee, we mustn's get Ahmadinejad mad at us, after all, he is such good friend. (/sarc)
Air War against the terrorist regime in Iran, there is no other solution.
Sounds like State Department BS. If Ahmadinejad is taking risky steps in Iraq, it gives his opposition more reason to complain.
We discussed this earlier today.
Drudge has got this up in red on center column

NBC NEWS confirms a secret U.S. military report that says 'Iranian Agents' may be behind a deadly ambush in Karbala, Iraq that left five American soldiers dead. The report also claims the Iranian revolutionary guard is providing intelligence on U.S. and Iraqi military to Shiite extremists, in addition to sophisticated weaponry. Developing...
There are some Senators...like Arlen Specter that are demanding that this evidence be made public.
Personally, I don't want to see it...if it will hurt our intelligence or military.
waiting and watching....bttt
Well, he is a sociopathic, end-of-times genocidal dictator. I guess he could just launch a conventional invasion of Iraq. Nuts, but possible.
At first I considered whether I gave a cr*p what Imanutjob thinks. But considering further that his synapses could fire entirely randomly, the "Nuts" factor has to be considered.
And the RAT Reps and senators love the Iranians.
Correct, Intel first. Why give them a heads up what we know.

Remember that episode of South Park where Cartman bought the failing theme park, and then wouldn't let anyone in, thus leading to everyone wanting to get in?
Same principle.
Its hardly "covert" intel that must be protected and held close if its "after the IED goes off debris" and we do a forensic examination and determine that the serial numbers, date of manufacturer, and other specs indicate that it was bought or manufacturered in Iran at some recent date - after March 2003.
From what I have read - this is the kind of stuff we have. Plus computer records, shipping info etc., from the laptops captured on the phony Iranian "diplomats" in Irbil.
Tell me why we need to protect this info.....unless we need a convenient excuse to postpone finishing this war in this century!
Good plan. They can squirrel it away along with all those intelligence reports and satellite photos of a large Russian/Iraqi heavy truck convoy making a beeline for Syria just before the second Iraqi war. They didn't wanna piss off the Russians and Syrians, you know.
So now, after open hostilities break out with Iran in the very near future, the administration can continue to get kicked in the teeth by the 'Rats and Media for going to war with no justification, just like with Iraq II, since there was no evidence the administration was willing to give to show that WMD's might have been shipped to Syria.
Gotta hand it to this administration for its clueless consistency in bungling the propaganda war.
I presume there is a good reason to tease the media and delay the release of this report. Hopefully, it will come at a very propitious moment.
Be patient, it's coming, and this info will be available at the best, most effective, time.
Maybe AFTER we let all the dimocrats cozy up to our enemies, in full public view.
Remember the "Axis of Evil," and stay focused.
jfKerry probably already gave them a copy.
I guess living in a major military city and also having several relatives who have done tours in Iraq and will again including a relative in Intel you have more of a clue what the big picture is.
That would be his style
