ANNAPOLIS -- Gov. Martin O'Malley called for more spending on public schools, health care and the environment yesterday in his first State of the State address, but acknowledged that Maryland will need new sources of revenue to make his plan work. "We will never be able to multiply bread and fishes to cover the multitude of needs without new revenue," said Mr. O'Malley, a Democrat. "It's a big, big challenge that we have for our future."

Well, 'Rat Marylanders (present Conservative company here excepted), aren't you glad now that you elected this putz?
"We will never be able to multiply bread and fishes to cover the multitude of needs without new revenue..."
Obviously, he hasn't heard about the second coming of Hillary! She'll tax "the rich" (that was everyone who made $50,000 during the Clinton presidency) to provide those bread and fishes to their dependent voters.
Tax and spend! Welcome to the Peoples Democratic State of Maryland, where the new state motto will be "We are going to take things away from you for the common good."
Then again, the current motto is "Fatti maschii parole femine," which means "Manly deeds, womanly words."
Just as I was nodding off last night, I could hear the anchor on the local Fox news talking about how O'Malley wanted to cut spending in MD because of a budget crunch.
In her very next sentence she talked about how O'Malley wanted to improve the roads and schools and I believe the 3rd one was help get health insurance for more residents of MD.
I had a nice laugh wondering how he was going to cut spending, but improve all of those things. Democrats don't know how to do that.
My son and his wife live in Maryland and they knew full well what would happen if this idiot was elected. They worked hard, but failed to get their friends and relatives to vote for the republican and against him.
O'Malley is only doing what he did in Baltimore; turning the state of Maryland into a complete $hithole just like he did as mayor of Baltimore.
STANDBY FOR THE RAM
We had a good Republican Governor, but the Dem machine wasnt getting rich so they elected this _____
More money thrown down the Education toilet. We have schools now that greatly resemble Saddam palaces.Filled with Thousands of computers.
I saw a few very short excerpts on the local news of his State of the State address. O'Malley really came off as a lightweight.
LOL. I was reading an article in the Annapolis Capital a while back about some gang activity at one of the local palaces. The article mentioned that a favorite gathering point for one bunch of "Utes" was a secluded area "next to the racquetball courts."
For Freepers who are not familiar with the present and upcoming scene in Maryland, here it is: This governor, Martin O'Malley, is raiding the $2 billion Rainy Day Fund for half its worth, and using it to cover for a major structural debt resulting from his plan to double embryonic stem cell public funding, pump more money into schools, among other things, all while claiming no intention to raise taxes this year (we'll see what the Dem legislature thinks of that!), not moving for increased slots revenues, and all while claiming the cloak of fiscal responsibility.
They put a glass front on the tech center at Leonardtown that purportedly cost 1 million bucks and all it is , is an entrance alcove.
When I went to school we put chairs up in the gym for meetings, Now they have rooms that look like opera houses.
I live in Maryland and am involved in Maryland politics. It is hopeless. We really thought we could pull it off this time, I put my heart and soul into a number of campaigns and came up empty. They would vote for Stalin in Maryland as long as he is a Rat.
You're not kidding, especially after Steele lost to that empty suit Cardin.
I am most disgusted with Maryland for picking a nondescript liberal like Cardin, who hasn't two brain cells to rub together over Michael Steele.
Regards, Ivan
Well, Ivan, we tried to re-elect Ehrlich and move Steele to the Senate. Hard to even rebut the slanderous ads when the Dem voting bloc doesn't want to see through them.
