MUST READ . . .

WHY BUSH IS A WALL STREET ROCK STAR
By Neil Cavuto

All they read are numbers: stock prices, economic stats.

Who's making money, who isn't.

All they are is money and yes, greed.

They are tough judges — actually, merciless judges.

They measure you by performance figures they can tell, not vague political speeches they can not.

They know there is a war, but they know there is an economy too.

They know the war has its problems. They know this economy does not.

And therein lies the reason President Bush was greeted like a rock star when he stunned everyone and descended on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday.

I was there — I felt their excitement. And I heard their chants. I heard the "thank yous" and the "way to gos."

This man, who is such a divisive figure in America, is a legend in this building.

You can read the rest of Neil's comments and/or watch a videoclip of the comments here [NOTE: At this website, you will also find videoclips of Neil's interview with the President from yesterday!]

'I DO FEEL THAT HE CARES'
WTC SON HAILS BUSH AFTER THEY MEET HERE
By DAVID SEIFMAN City Hall Bureau Chief

February 1, 2007 -- Ceasar Borja Jr. took his crusade for sick Ground Zero workers straight to President Bush yesterday - and said he sensed a special bond as soon as he shook hands with the commander-in-chief.

"There was mutual understanding," Borja said after the private get-together.

"This is how I felt: 'I'm just trying to do the right thing, Mr. President. I'm 21 years old.' His eyes just said, 'I know, Ceasar, and thank you.' "

The Queens resident met with Bush at Federal Hall on Wall Street at about noon yesterday to discuss the Sept. 11 recovery workers - and others - who have been sickened by the debris left in the terror attack.

It's a topic that was close to Borja's heart - his father, Cesar, a city cop, died Jan. 23 of lung disease believed to have been caused during his three months working in the ruins of the World Trade Center.

The college student had been calling for a meeting with Bush to press for more federal money to help people sickened at Ground Zero. Yesterday, he finally got his wish with 30 minutes of face time with the leader of the free world.

It was an emotionally charged session.

"I did feel that he cares, that he does care. I did feel it. Especially being in such close proximity to the president, being so near to the president, he does care," Borja said.

POLLING UPDATE . . .

RASMUSSEN
The President's JA rating continues at 44% -- his disapproval has declined to 54%
[Imagine what the President's JA rating would be if Rasmussen stopped oversampling Democrats by almost 7 points!]
http://rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

FOXNEWS/OPINION DYNAMICS
JA Rating 38%/54% -- UP from 35%/58% before SOTU . . . 80% approval from Republicans -- first time for this poll since 10/06!
[If Opinion Dynamics had refrained from oversampling Democrats by 9 points, the President's JA rating would have risen above 40% in this poll too!!]

FYI: Congress has a JA rating of 33% -- 5 points lower than the President's even though this poll featured a 9-point oversampling of Democrats!!

BTW: This poll features some VERY interesting findings vis a vis the Iraq war and Congress' reaction to this war!

Shrimps and spaghetti sound interesting I have eaten shrimps (prawns as I call them) with noodles but not spaghetti - do you do a special sauce with it?

I'm glad you liked it.

President Bush has perfect comedy timing. On the Fox News version, you can see Gen. Pace put his napkin over his face as the President pours his coffee.

I admire the way the president spoke to the young man from Queens, and I really do think he is empathetic with this man's concerns regarding the workers at the WTC. I also believe that those workers would have gone down there through hell or high water to try to save fellow first-responders who were trapped in there. The ambulance-chasing lawyers showed up and created a lot of this "crisis".

Thanks for all your hard work compiling these articles for us to read, Deb!

Well, I heated me some egg drop soup and sat down at the computer to read while I ate, and there it was. You know me, I could not resist!!! I had been reading a book by Sue Grafton. I've read A, B, C, and now D. After hubby died a cousin in MS sent me about 17 books and one of them was by Sue and that got me interested. She is a good writer.
