Well here is one very good, powerfully insightful, and fairly exhaustive report on China's state of affairs that came to my in box.

Stratfor is described as the closest thing there is to a 'private CIA'. Except they don't kill people.

I received this article with no copywrite notice through a free email I get from Investor's Insite Publishing.

I heard people over there are mortgaging their houses to invest in the chinese stock market and the chinese government has demanded banks monitor the loans being given for business startup that people turn around and invest in the stock market.

How do you say "Irrational exuberance" in Chinese.

Unfortunately the CIA does not do that anymore.

The author states "Now, it is obvious that the current Republic of China/Taiwan territories are limited to Taiwan and a few additional islands . . . . " However, this is totally incorrect.

When the ROC was founded in 1912, it did not include Taiwan, and the procedures of Article 4 of the ROC Constitution have never been completed to "incorporate" Taiwan into ROC territory. At the same time there are no international treaty references which can be found which show that the territorial sovereignty of Taiwan has ever been transferred to the ROC.

This is very important, and indeed it is the crux of the issue as to why the ROC on Taiwan is not regarded as a sovereign nation -- it does not have the "title" to Taiwan territory.

In other words, the ROC only fits the categorization of "squatters." The ROC on Taiwan does not meet the Montevideo Convention criteria for statehood, hence it is not an independent sovereign nation. Obviously, it will never be able to join the United Nations.
