I don't believe Conservatism has been defeated. Conservatism works every time it is tried. Unfortunately, with few exceptions it hasn't been tried very much lately.

Compounding the problem is the fact that conservative principles aren't being articulated very well by political leaders. I am convinced that if the thinking public were given a clear, concise, and systematic exposition of what conservatism truly is, and if enough politicians put it into practice, our ranks would swell significantly.
Conversely, if liberals were ever completely honest about their ideology and agenda, they would lose hands down. That's why they rarely tell the truth about what they are.

I remember telling you and our friends here back in the Keyes for President days to keep their eye on the money from the punters...

Republican candidates odds...

The support for Duncan Hunter is so conservative that it appears nobody in the country has even bet on him yet...very scary for Conservatives...Bears just scored!!!! Go Bears...

Conservatism is not dead, it just needs someone to fire it up.

Excellent questions. I hope everyone here who has been cheering for RG will just candidly answer YES to every one of them. As for me and my household, we'll sit it out.

wonder what/if the Dems will do anything now. The Republicans sat on it for years; Dems could take drastic measures to close the border, emphasizing the fact that terrorists could be crossing the border, and thus balance out the widespread belief that conservatives are stronger on defense.

-----

Put me in a straight jacket...i would be so perplexed! I so want the pubs to grow at least some wee nads and take care of this border issue....but if the dems did it...i'd have to at least give them a golf clap...maybe... ;)

Is conservatism dead in the Republican Party?

Not entirely.

Is the conservative movement dead in America?

No.

Is God dead to Americans?

Not by any stretch of the imagination.

A handful of liberal athiests have appointed themselves spokesmen for Republicans, Conservatives, and God fearing Americans. But when we step into the voting booths, those self-appointed spokesmen lose their voice. We will vote for the candidates of our own choosing, not the ones chosen for us by the loud-mouthed bullies. They may intimidate the weak, but the rest of us will do what's right in spite of them.

You can't have a unified message when you have 500 different messages.

We have to start with the thought that most people are not uber political.

When Republicans start throwing stuff from the looney right in the hateful fashion they are prone to throw it in, people think 'hell no'.

Let me give you an example... I have a guy who comes to my office all the time who is a liberal radio talk show host. He's a generally nice guy...Very kind person.

When some Republicans see me talking to him they are almost insulted. They would rather me get in his face and scream 'you liberal slimeball pig!'...

The fact is, anger isn't an argument for anything. Republicans are good at getting angry and showing it, but then they fall apart.

We get no where as long as we give anyone with that attitude any platform to speak from. We need to marginalize and get that stripe of people out of the limelite.

If "conservatism" is losing, its that crowd thats losing it for us.

Would you accept a gay agenda/NARAL supporting abortionist gun-grabber as your party's savior against Hillary Clinton even if it means we abandon the pro-life, pro-family, pro-freedom of religion and pro-gun planks from the party's platform?

NO! I will not accept Rudy Giuliani as my party`s nominee for POTUS in 2008! Period!

I hate to say it, but the Abandon Principles wing of the (R) letter party has girded their loins for war. Unless we meet them head on and destroy them, conservatism IS dead.

The drumbeat of "Do or Say Anything to Win" scares the hell out of me. It is taken directly from the democrat play book and leads to the same destination.

What does it matter if an (R) wins if they celebrate the same lack of morals that define the dems?

Has the anti-God, anti-America, anti-commonsense and decency ACLU, NOW and NARAL organizations defeated conservatism?

Is conservatism dead in the Republican Party?

Is the conservative movement dead in America?

Your question remind me of a passage in Whittaker Chamber's book "Witness." Chambers was a US citizen and a communist spy who lect Communism for Christianity. He said, "I knew I was leaving the winning side for the losing side."

Fortunately for us all, he was wrong.

Ronald Reagan postumusly gave him the Medal of Freedom for testifying against Alger Hiss. And in 1989, the wall came tumbling down.

Never give up!

Never give up!

Never give up!

Never give up!

Dems could take drastic measures to close the border, emphasizing the fact that terrorists could be crossing the border, and thus balance out the widespread belief that conservatives are stronger on defense.

Can't see it. The opportunity for the Dems to acquire (through amnesty) that many millions of new voters (many of whom are already addicted to welfare freebees) far outweighs any desire to attempt to convince us how "tough" they are on defense.

The GOP can only be saved from permanent minority status by forgetting about amnesty, guarding the borders as if our national survival depends on it (which of course it does), repealing the anchor baby laws, and cutting off the welfare goodies.

Not going to happen.

Start with serious ideas, add seriously electable and elected politicians, mix in serious money and BANG, we have a contender.

While he was the “Republican Mayor” of New York City he appointed more than 60 men and women to the Civil, Criminal, and Family Court benchs. In all of those judicial appointment not one of them was a Republican.

All of his judical appointments were either registered Liberals or registered Democrats. As the “Republican Mayor” he had appointment power over more than 70 full commissioners in more than 50 City agencies, yet at no time during his administration did REPUBLICANS account for more than 10% of those appointments.

He even appointed Chuck Schumers wife as the City’s Department of Transportation Commissioner.
